ALFIES POV
Courtney. Why was Courtney here? I thought she had left my life... forever. She wore a tight fitted black dress with red lipstick. "Um... Hi Courtney." I said quietly.
"Go on Alfie, be a gentlemen and give her a kiss!" Poppy exclaimed, her excited expression made me stand up and walk over and swallow the bile that was rising in my throat. I walked over and placed a single kiss on her cheek.
"Can I talk to you outside Courtney?" I asked, my voice cracking. She smirked then nodded her head. I walked out the room and rubbed my face. Courtney shut the door and laughed.
"That was funny, why didn't you tell her we broke up?" She laughed quietly, her head rolling back.
"Because I couldn't just tell her, I don't know why but I had to lie. What are you doing here anyway?" I whispered harshly, my eyes dazing into her.
"I came to visit you silly."
"We're not together anymore Courtney, do you know how long ago it was when I broke up with you? A long time ago." I snapped quietly, my hand placed on the wall.
"Yeah, but your sisters here and we going to fake date okay? Showtime." She growled quietly before opening the door and walking through swaying her hips. I rolled my eyes before walking in as well.
I sat down next to Courtney, placing a hand on a knee, which was way too soft. Poppy sat on the other couch and smiled. "You guys are adorable, let me get a picture." She pulled her phone out and aimed it towards our direction. I put on a smile which Courtney did as well before she took it. I was in deep trouble.
ZOE POV
I wiped the dry tears that stained my face before crawling out of bed. I can't believe Alfie would say that to me. I put on my coat and walking out the door.
I had to be strong.
The elevator ride was quick and I walked outside to the crispy air, wrapping my coat tighter around me. There was a Chinese restaurant down this road, only a two minute walk.
The walk was full of awkward eye contact and the occasional smile from someone. The Chinese restaurant was empty, which was great because me and packed places don't get along.
I walked up to the desk and smiled, "Hello, could I order a fried rice with crispy chicken please." I said, she typed it in before telling me to take a seat.
A young boy walked into the shop with geeky glasses on and a grey beanie. He ordered his meal before turning towards my direction, stopping. Then he smiled. "Zoe."
As he got closer I recognised who he was... Officer Justin. He looked different without his police uniform on. He was snuggled up in a black trench coat with blue skinny jeans. "How are you?" He asked, taking a seat opposite me.
"I'm... great, thanks. You come here often?" He asked, his hands rubbing together for warmth, it was really cold outside.
"Actually no, not really. I'm more of a indian restaurant kinda girl."
"That's cool, my girlfriend loves it here but shes sick today so I had to come by myself." He said, a little smile appearing after. I'm not surprised a boy like him has a girlfriend. "Look I've gotta go, but I'll see you around yeah?"
"Okay. Bye." I said, I stood up and walked over to the counter, picking up my order and walking back outside. My phone buzzed in my pocket, snapping me from my attenion. I looked at my screen and saw Alfies name.
'ALFIE DEYES: Hey, do you wanna come over for a movie night with me, Louis, Marcus and Niomi?'
I couldn't help but think that Alfie still hated me, but Marcus, Niomi and Louis were going to be there. I missed seeing them, we used to have such a good time together.
I walked back into my flat, putting my chinese in the fridge I'll have to eat it later. I threw my hair into a messy bun before slipping into some black leggings and a baby blue sweater. I quickly put my shoes on before heading out the door.
***
I knocked on Alfies door multiple times, taking a deep breath. Was I ready to see Alfie after the event we had this morning? Answering my thoughts Alfie opened the door, in a grey sweater, black jeans and a beanie. A small smile spread on his face.
"Hey-" I smiled, but was cut off by a hug of Alfie, his arms slinking around my waist, mine at the nape of his neck.
"I'm so sorry Zoe, I didn't mean to be such a jerk. I hope you can forgive me." He whispered, I nodded my head. Inhaling Alfie's familiar scent. He interwined our hands and walked me into the livingroom where Marcus and Niomi were cuddled up and Louis eating a bowl of popcorn.
"Zoe! I've missed you so much, where you been?" Niomi asked, I laughed shaking my head.
"Recovering." I laughed, pulling Niomi into a sweet embrace. Marcus came up, picking me up and swinging me around.
"I've missed you so much Zoe, I can't believe your here."
"I've missed you too, now. What movie?" I laughed, playfully smacking Marcus in the arm. A habit we had was cutting each other off and leaving our conversation.
"We're watching we're the millers! One of my favourite movies." Marcus exclaimed, his arms spreading out like they usually do. Alfie places the DVD in the drive and begins to play the film. Louis sits on the corner with some popcorn and a bottle of cider. Niomi and Marcus cuddle up on the couch, constantly teasing each other.
I decided to sit next to Louis and let Alfie do all the decided, I probably would have ended up on the floor. Alfies turns around and his breath hitches in his throat. His eyes scan the couch, obviously having the same problem as me.
He huffs and walks next to me and jumps next to the spot next to me and lies his feet diagonally on the couch so his feet are touching Louis's thigh. I feel a little awkward, my legs cramped up to my chest. I could already feel a cramp coming on.
Alfie realized me being uncomfortable and tucked his arms under my knees and placed them on his lap, his hand staying gently on my knee. His gesture was soft and also reassuring.
It was the first time which I felt comfortable about something.
The movie moved swiftly along, with laughter and tears and also awe. Alfie's hand stayed on my knee throughout the whole movie and if I'm really honest, I loved it.
Marcus and Niomi left after the movie, saying they were busy with family tomorrow and needed to travel a long way to visit them. Louis was staying the night, it was only right if I left myself. "I think I'm going to leave." I whispered to Alfie.
"I'll walk you to the door." He smiled, standing up and walking to the door. I walked behind him, my arms behind my back awkwardly.
"I had a rea-" I was cut of by his lips touching mine. His hand caressed my face.
"I'm really sorry about being a jerk Zoe, I really don't mean it." He whispered, his thumb rubbing along my cheekbone. "I'll come round tomorrow, does that sound okay?"
"Yes that's fine, and Alfie- you're not a jerk, I was out of hand going back and forth between you and Jack but I promise you I will stay with you."
"And I'll stay with you."
