The waters were clear as a small framed dark pink female echidna stood on pins and needles in the middle of a shrine. She was poised with her staff in hand ready to attack the next thing or being that possibly wanted to hurt the very reason for her existence. She was like this everyday of her life, for as long as she could remember, even as a small child she had to protect this rock with everything that she stood for. But the sad thing was that she was protecting it from no one, her tribe had been a simple peaceful race of echidnas who lived on this small under water dome covered island and they worshiped the very object that created and powered the protective dome in which allowed them to exist under the beautiful ocean. This object was a large turquoise blue emerald that to her people was simply called the eternal aquarian master emerald and from her very moment of birth this lone female echidna had been placed as the priestess set to protect it from being taken or harmed by any or all others. Her father had been the last protector of the jewel before her, thats how her people had found there unfortunate downfall. As the young echidna had previously learned from her fathers downfall all it took was for the gems protector to remove there gaze from the precious jewel for even a milli sec for possible danger to befall it and to this stong girl she was beyond determined to not have the past replay itself over again. Constant alertness was what she was all about, constant vigilance under no circumstances was anything or any one gonna touch her gem while she was breathing. She sat there atop her gem scanning the surrounding areas as darkness started to cover the ocean floor. As she watched the darkness creep slowly over the ocean floor she found it just a bit off that the night was coming so soon. Last time she had checked it was still mid day, she looked back at her jem as she started to hear a odd rumbling sound coming from one of the sides of the dome, she hopped off of her gem and readied herself and her staff for a fight only to find the ground beneath her start to burst forth as a swarm of small robotic drills started to break through the ground and over flow endlessly into the inside of the dome. She waisted no time in destroying the small robots but in doing so she had repeated her father very mistake and took her eyes off of the emerald. She quickly looked back to where the gem sat only to see a swarm of the small robots swarm around the emerald in attempt to take the priceless gem. The echidna quickly rushed over to do her job but the drill robots had already started there attack on the precious gem. She continued to try and destroy the small robots as they proceeded in drilling directly through the gem thus causing it to break and shatter into countless pieces, as the gem ruptured she looked up at the dome in dread only to see the barrier that had been holding for so many many years start to once again break down just like when her father had failed the echidnas in the past thus allowing the cold ocean water to flow into the female echidnas only home flooding it and allowing nature to reclaim the area once again. The only thing that she saw before being taken over by the ocean water was the shadow of a strange man in what looked like a round sub that had what oddly looked like a moustache attached to the front of it and he was laughing menacingly at the devastation that he had caused with the small drill robots.
