Part 6: Echidnas With Questions!

The following morning bliss woke up in the very chair that she had been chatting to silver in the night before, as she yawned and stretched she noticed silver was fast asleep in his bed as well. "Oh dear i wonder which of us fell asleep first? oh well i better get to my post before commander knuckles sees me lounging around like this!" bliss said quietly out loud to herself so not to accidentally wake silver up from what looked like one heck of a nice deep sleep that he was currently in. She walked back into the medical unit and took her seat at her desk as she started to look over the itenary that was currently laid out for the day, she had only gotten a few lines in when commander knuckles entered into the room, "hey there bliss how are things going for you this morning? i heard that silver is still on the mends is that true?" knuckles asked as he leaned up against the doorframe with a concerned look on his face. Bliss smiled up at the commander and nodded, "things are going very well commander knuckles and as for silver yes he is still here but he's doing much better! id give him maybe one more day in here so he can get fully recharged up again, after all you don't want a sluggish soldier out there on the battlefield am i right sir?" bliss stated with a giggle as knuckles smiled back and nodded as he took a seat infront of her desk thus taking her abit by surprise due to him usually not hanging around in areas of the HQ like this for very long, "is there anything that you need my help with commander knuckles?" bliss asked as knuckles nodded and asked her softly, "i was just curious about what tribe did you come from? you mentioned the last time we met about a master emerald, where was it stationed? where was your home? mine was known as angel island...it was the most beautiful place....until the emerald was broken..." knuckles said sadly as he remembered his old beautiful home, bliss nodded as she remembered back to hearing about an angel island from her mother back when she was very little and now bliss knew that knuckles had originated from there. "I come from a tribe of echidnas who lived under the ocean, our master emerald erected a barrier in which it allowed us all to survive down there and we called it seafloor island...our emerald was in the shrine in the very middle of our island dome....i just can't believe that this is all that remains of my beautiful home...I'm just as easily distracted as my father was..." bliss stated as she showed knuckles the stone that silver had given her the evening before. As knuckles looked at the master emeralds shard that bliss was showing him his mouth fell open in shock, "oh my goodness I've never ever seen a blue master emerald before! i though you had called it the eternal aquarian master emerald due to it being underwater! it must of been one heck of a sight to behold!..im sorry that it was hurt...like i told you when we met bliss i know your pain as well and i.....well i um...." knuckles stated as he started to get flustered and bliss could see that he was having a hard time trying to say what ever it was that he was trying to tell her. "Whats wrong commander? are you alright?" bliss asked in concern as she got up and felt his forehead thus taking knuckles by surprise, the male echidna quickly stood up and handed her some sheets of battle info as he blurted out a bunch of stuff so quickly that bliss couldn't make heads or tails out of it before he made a quick dash to the doorway and took off down the hall thus leaving bliss standing there in confusion as she looked down at the papers that he had given her, just then amy and cream had entered the room and they were both giggling. "Wow what got commander knuckles so hot and bothered?" cream asked bliss as amy added, "ya bliss he was taking off directly towards his room, what were you two talking about in here huh bliss?" amy asked as she playfully poked blisses arm with her elbow as she was getting the beds ready for the day, bliss just giggled as she now understood what must of happened with the commander as she replied to the girls with "we were just talking about our old homes, then he got all weird but lets just get ready for the day alright girls?" the girls all nodded happily as they proceeded to get the rooms ready for the days patients.
