"This Johnny guy... he's your friend, right?" she asked, careful not to anger Jaehyun. He nodded and opened the door wider. "Can we talk?" she asked, he closed his door and opened it once again, moving to the living room.
"What do you want to know?" Jaehyun asked.
"I- I've been going out with a guy named Johnny and it's just weird that Y/n is too. Like, the chance of it being the same person is very narrow, but I just want to make sure." She hesitated for a second. "Can I see a picture of him?"
Jaehyun took his phone out, scared of Rose's reaction upon seeing his friend's face. He knew Johnny dates whoever he wants, but he was not sure if he was actually cheating on you. Rose's face went pale, alarming Jaehyun.
"Is it the same person?" Jaehyun whispered.
Rose choked, her hands shaking as she looked down at her lap. A faint sob left her lips, as she refused to look up at Jaehyun.
"It is him, isn't it?" Rose nodded, still crying her eyes out.
"Please don't tell, y/n. At least not yet." She said.
"You are really going to keep this from her? No wonder she thinks nobody cares about her..." he said bitingly.
"I am not going to see Johnny anymore, but you don't understand."
"Well, then help me, enlighten me." He said.
"Y/n is a very sensitive person Jaehyun, she's fucking broken. Do you know how much it's going to hurt her to know that her boyfriend is fucking around with her best friend..." She cried. "fuck, I can't believe this is happening."
"She needs to know, he's going to keep on hurting her."
"Jaehyun, please, if you still care about her even a little... let me handle this."
"Fine. Where is she anyway?" he asked.
"She left crying, she told me to not look for her." Jaehyun gulped, feeling guilty.
"She drove like that?" he asked, worrying a little.
"Yeah, she always goes to the same place. The pier around here." Jaehyun got up and grabbed his keys, taking his jacket from the coat hanger near the door.
"Where are you going?"
"I am not going to let her wander around town at this time of night, I made this mess, I will fix it." He said and left Rose alone.
She got her phone out and dialed his number.
"Rose! Ready for another round already?" he said.
"I'm at my friend's apartment, meet me here, yeah?
"Kinky." He chuckled. "I need an address."
"Oh, I'm pretty sure you know her address. Her name is y/n y/l/n. she's your friend's roommate." The other side of the line went dead.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"How could you? How could you ask her to be your girlfriend and then cheat on her?" she yelled.
"Rose, calm down..."
"Don't tell me to calm down! I am fucking my best friend's boyfriend and I didn't even know!"
"Rose, please don't tell her..." he whispered.
"Why would I do that?"
"I... might be in love with her." Rose scoffed.
"You might? Are you even listening to yourself right now? You're fucking disgusting."
"Rose, please! Don't tell her. I will... please, I just... fuck!" Rose sniffled. "I always fuck up everything, shit."
"Yeah... cause you can't fucking commit."
"Fuck, I do care about her, please believe me." He said.
"How am I supposed to believe that Johnny? Are you stupid or something?"
"I- I just... I fucked it up." Rose couldn't stand the sound of his voice anymore and hung up, standing to leave to her apartment and think about how they were going to tell you the news without hurting you.
Jaehyun drove to the pier, not being quite sure as to where exactly you were going to be. Until he saw a silhouette by the lighthouse, he got closer and heard laughter.
"The fuck she laughing for?" He got close enough to see who was next to you. Mark. He watched closely, trying to figure out what you were talking about when he saw his arm snake around your shoulders. Jaehyun frowned and saw your figure shake once more, caused by the laughter Mark was provoking. He chuckled sadly, his feet suddenly becoming interesting. He only wished it was him making you laugh, being the cause of your happiness. He wanted nothing more than to hold you tight and never let you go. He wanted to fix you, he wanted you to fix him. But I guess broken people can't fix each other. He turned on his heels, sure of letting you go. You needed someone who was going to lift you up, not bring you down, and unfortunately... Jaehyun thought he was not the one capable of such thing.
"So, he climbed the tree right, and then his mom came..." Mark's laugh was contagious. "and started yelling at him. It startled Jaehyun so much that he fell off it."
"Oh my God! Did he really?" you said, holding your stomach that hurt from laughing too much.
"He did, that's probably why he treats you like that, he fell when he was little."
"I just wish I could talk to him, you know, like a normal person." You said. "but he makes it so hard."
"Maybe you should talk to him, you might be surprised by what behind that 'handsome' face" he made quotations in the air.
"Maybe I should... but I doubt I will be able to find that Jaehyun. I'm not you." And that's what you wanted to believe. Jaehyun was never going to treat you the way he treated his friends, because he actually cared about them, and you were just his employee and roommate. As right as he claimed to be about Johnny, all he wanted was for you to be away from his friends. Away from him. There was not much you could offer anyway... but for now, you wanted to forget all of it. All of your issues and enjoy the newly bloomed friendship with Mark. You only hoped he wasn't going to let you down like everyone else.
