"Doyoung..."
Mark looked over at your sister who was pretty much hyperventilating. She motioned him to come over and leave you and Doyoung alone.
He flashed you a sweet smile and pointed gently to the chair that was once occupied by Mark.
"Can I?" Of course, he was going to ask for permission.
"Yeah, sure. Go ahead." You placed your hands on your lap, underneath the table.
"You moved back." He said, but it sounded more like a question.
"Yeah, I've been living here for 3 months now." You said shyly, not used to having him in front of you. He still made you just as nervous as he did a few years ago.
"That's great! I moved back 6 months ago. What a coincidence!" He smiled and laughed softly.
"Yeah..." you forced a laugh and his face dropped.
"How have you been?" You laughed bitterly. 'Like shit, because of you.'
"I've been good. You?"
"Y/n, I didn't marry her. There was actually never someone else." You scoffed and licked your bottom lip, looking up and away from him to prevent the tears from falling.
"I'm sorry, I can't do this." You stood up and wiped your eyes quickly walking out of the cafe. The faint callings of your name following your exit.
You heard him call your name and you picked up your pace. But then you felt a hand tug on your arm, turning you around.
"Y/n..."
"What do you want? Are not done hurting me? If there was no one else, why did you leave me three days before our wedding?" You pulled your arm from his grip. "You never loved me, I was just stupid enough to be with you."
"I do love you!" Love. You looked at him confused, his words made your heart beat fast for some reason. "I still love you, I never stopped loving you, y/n."
His eyes looked at you fondly, full of sincerity and love, just like when he proposed.
"I swear to you, I never stopped loving you." He cupped your cheeks and you could feel warm, ignoring the coolness of your surroundings. "But I had to let you go, you had so many dreams and plans, and marrying me was not going to help."
He gently wiped the tears falling from your eyes with his thumb. He leaned in to rest your foreheads together.
Your eyes closed instantly at his warm touch. His thumb was still stroking your face fondly.
"I regret letting you go every day, I regret not marrying you so much." He whispered, his nose softly rubbing against yours. For a minute you forgot about Jaehyun.
"Doyou-"
"Y/n!" you heard Mark call to you, your trance abruptly ending. You looked behind Doyoung and saw Mark, a disappointed look on his face as he turned around to walk back.
"Mark! Wait!" you called. "Fuck, shit... what am I gonna do..." you whispered and ran your hands up your face and through your hair.
"Wait, are you dating him?" Doyoung asked.
"No," you pushed past him and ran behind Mark.
You know that for him it looked like you were kissing Doyoung. You walked into the, now empty, café again, and looked at your sister.
"You're back!"
"Where's Mark?" you asked and looked around, you saw him on the table where you were some minutes ago, grabbing his coat that was on the chair. "Mark, I can explain!"
"Explain what? That you couldn't trust Jaehyun, yet you are here kissing someone else?" Mark scoffed.
"Mark, I didn't kiss him!"
"Maybe Jaehyun was right, he should just let you go. Good luck with him," he said and walked past you.
"Mark, please!" you begged at your friend. "Believe me, please."
"I saw you!"
"You saw his back! I was not kissing Doyoung!" you argued. "Mark, you know I would never!"
"I know what I saw, y/n. I can't believe you did that." He said, and you felt pressure on your chest as his accusations left his lips.
"Mark, please..."
"No, I thought you were different from them, but I guess all of you fuck your own lives over." He left the café and walked to get the first cab he saw.
You fell to the floor in tears, sobbing loudly as your sister reached to you and embraced you.
"I didn't kiss him." you cried, and she stroked your hair. "Why does this always happen to me? Why can't things go right for once?"
"Shh... you will be fine, he will realize you were saying the truth." She shushed you. "Hey, listen to me, I believe you."
But her believing you was not enough, she was not Jaehyun's best friend, she had no contact with him whatsoever.
Mark entered his hotel room and tears started falling down his face. He knew you didn't kiss Doyoung, but this was an excuse to do what Jaehyun told him to do, except he ruined your friendship in the process.
He meant what he said earlier, you were his best friend and he had just ruined it. Mark took his phone out and saw there was an income call.
"Hey, did you see her?" the voice from the other line said.
"Yes, Jaehyun, and now she won't talk to me or you. I hope you're happy." Mark said bitterly.
"What do you mean?"
"Her ex-fiancé is back, and I had to pretend like I thought she was cheating to get her to forget about you. I said..." he sighed. "I said some hurtful things to her Jaehyun, and I didn't mean them."
"Ex-fiancé? Mark, what are you talking about? I told you to make me look bad, not her!"
"I panicked! I didn't know what to say! I was actually trying to convince her to go back home. But then he showed up and I saw the opportunity and took it, hurting our friendship in the process."
"Mark, who are you talking about? What fiancé?"
"She was engaged a long time ago, but the guy left her cause there was someone else."
"That's why... that's why she left, cause she knew she was not going to able to trust me." He whispered.
"Jaehyun, are not listening? I accused her of cheating on you, do you have any idea of how much I just hurt her?"
"I, I'm sorry Mark." He said. "Fuck, I..."
"Yes, fuck indeed Jaehyun. I just lost her because you were not brave enough to tell her yourself."
"I didn't want to hurt her."
"But I did! I hurt her knowing how much she has been through, she confided on me Jaehyun, I fucked everything up because of you."
Mark heard a knock on the door and hung up in Jaehyun. He opened the door and saw your sister.
"Mark, I will fix this." She said. "She cares about you a lot, she is very hurt."
"I know... you do know I didn't mean anything I said right?"
"Yes, I will make sure she knows that, but do apologize please."
"I will... " he said and looked down.
"Everything will be okay..."
But was it really going to be okay? You had just lost two of the people you cared about the most... your best friend and the love of your life... all because of him. You wanted to hate him, but for some reason, you couldn't help but feel fuzzy inside knowing he still loves you.
