"Hey, mom." You whispered, touching her face lightly.
"You came." She smiled.
"I did." You said and wiped the tears falling down your face.
It had been almost 3 years since you saw your family. You never had time or money to take days off work. Jaehyun had given you the one thing you've been wanting for so long. You acted like a bitch and you know you needed to apologize.
"What about work?" She asked.
"Well, my roommate is my boss." You took a deep breath. "He gave me a paid vacation, but mom, I messed up." You sobbed.
"Is that the guy you told me about?" She asked and stroked your hair.
"Yes, I just feel so confused. He makes me feel like he cares about me, but then he tells me otherwise." You said. "Mom, I kicked him out and I quit my job. Just to find out he paid for all of this."
"Honey, that sounds like he does care about you, maybe he just doesn't know how to let you know how he feels." She said.
"What if I'm too late?" You asked. "Will I ever be happy?"
"Of course, you will." She said. "You just need to let go of the past, y/n."
"I try so hard, mom. But I can't, I am not like you."
"You are stronger than me." She held your hand.
"Mom, promise me you will make it out if this. I can't lose you." I can't lose the only person who loves me.
"Hey, it's okay. Promise me you will talk things with Jaehyun." She said.
"I will. I promise." You said and she closed her eyes. You kissed her forehead and covered her up, exiting the room.
"Hey y/n." You heard a soft voice say.
"Hey," you said. You sister looked at you and started crying. "It's okay, mom will be okay." You said as you embraced her. She shook her head.
"I'm sorry," she cried. "I am such a shitty sister, I am so sorry I've blamed everything on you these past years, when all you've done is help us."
"It's okay," you shushed her.
"I love you." She said. Your eyes went wide, and your bottom lip started trembling at the sound of her words.
"I love you too." You whispered and held her tight.
"Y/n, there are some things I think you need to know." She said and guided you to sit next to her on the small sofa.
"What happened?" You asked full of worry.
"It's about dad," your heart started beating fast, not wanting to know anything about the person who made you the way you are. "he passed away a few years ago."
"Oh," for some reason you felt a huge weight being lifted from your shoulders.
"I didn't tell you, cause I know you never had a great relationship with him. But I think you needed to know, maybe this can give you closure." She said and caressed your hands.
Closure, maybe that's what you needed to stop feeling this way.
"I know you were really close to him." You told her.
"I always defended him when I should've defended you."
"It's okay, that's in the past. I have to let it go." You said. "I will be back, I have to make a call." You stood up and left to your childhood room.
You took your phone out and dialed his number. He answered after the second ring. The other line was silent, as well as yourself.
"Hey." You talked first. Your voice barely coming as a whisper.
