Part SeventeenThe night was silent one and the silence would be broken by stray dogs barking once in a while at the cars that would zoom past the house, she could clearly hear the ticking of clock, she opened her eyes frustratedly. Why was she aware of all the things around her, when it was almost midnight and she should be asleep. She turned around to see the empty side of the bed. He wasn't back yet, she knew she should have given him a chance to explain, maybe he wasn't letting her in because he didn't want her stressed.
Yeah but which idiot works till late, She sat up her anger melting and her care for him winning over, she picked up her dupatta tying it around her head just on case if she come across any of his brothers. She stepped out of the room, she could hear the sound coming from gaming room, Sadiq and Sadiqa hadn't gotten over their jet lag and mostly others would be be accompanying them at night , to help pass time, they were instructed by Asad to keep the door closed as the room was soundproof and wouldn't bother others but the trip to kitchen from gaming room meant leaving the door open and the noise they create, being absorbed in game would resound in the house. She frowned as she neared the study and heard heated voices coming from his study, her frown deepened as she recognized other voice to be of Sama's. She debated whether she should intervene or not, but the insecurities and jealousy of a wife took over and she found her standing at the entrance of the study, before she could make her presence known the words she heard left her shocked to the core.
"How can you do this to me after all that we shared?" Zoya looked at Asad, what does this mean? They shared a relationship? was Nuzhat right?
" I ?!"
"Yes you did! You cheated me!" She pointed her finger at him accusingly.
"I did not!" Asad glared back. What Zoya found unsettling was how comfortable they were, they didn't appear uncomfortable with each other.
"We were supposed to get married! Where did she come from? How did she come between us?!" she moved her hand between them pointing at each other. Zoya's eyes widened, she felt something break, something that pained inside her but she couldn't point out. She felt too weary at once, a heavy burden was set on heart, she had to leave from here.
"Look" Asad stopped as he heard the shuffling of feet, his eyes widened as they met a pair of horrified ones.
"Zoya" She stared at him with a feeling she couldn't describe, hurt? betrayal?
"It's good she is here, let her know the truth of her Nikah and how unwanted she is!" Sama gritted glaring at Zoya.
"Enough!" Asad took a step towards Zoya and she stepped back, with an sarcastic smile she turned to leave, Asad was going behind her but stopped by a tug on his hand, Sama was holding his hand, he jerked her hand and glared at her. He was worried what Zoya might be thinking.
"Asad"
"Have some sharam (shame)" He gritted leaving the study, he ran towards the room , found it empty, she didn't return to room, she quickly searched the others parts of the house, panic sweeping in , no , she can't leave the house the door was locked from inside, he knew where she might be but it can't be possible, she hated being there at the time of dark, she was afraid to go there during the dark, He quickly ran towards the stairs that led to the terrace, the door was open , he was right but why did she come here when she is frightened to be here during the night, he moved in quietly the terrace looked empty, he checked other side going around the wall and there she was sitting on the outdoor swing with legs folded beneath her as she stared ahead absentmindedly.
