"As-Salam-u-Alaikum"

"Wa Alaikum Assalam, got the gift?" He video called her.

"Yes" She replied staring at diamond bracelet she received this morning.

"Begum you have to say how much like it"

"Why do you think I liked it?" She asked, Asad frowned.

"What happened?"

"Why did you buy it Asad?"

"Can't I gift my wife?"

"You can but it's expensive" She said eying the bracelet.

"That shouldn't matter to you, you don't worry about price of gift" he replied

"That shouldn't matter to you, you don't worry about price of gift" he replied.

"But the company"

"Zoya I know how to handle my company and it is stable" He gritted.

"Asad I didn't mean ... I am sorry" Asad cut her off. The next few minutes went in her trying to pacify his anger. She was successful in getting him normal.

"It's okay begum. Do you like the bracelet?"

"It is beautiful" she replied. She asked him about his work, he spoke about the progress of his project.

"Okay.." She was about to end the call.

"You look upset"

"I am not"

"Guess got to buy you another gift" Zoya frowned at his words.

"What do you mean?"

"What you heard" he replied confused.

"Did you just brought this because I was upset last time?" She asked lifting the bracelet to the camera.

"Yes"

"You mean you wast... brought the bracelet just to pacify me, why?" She stopped herself and used correct wording.

"Isn't that what woman wants? I mean a upset woman gets happy once she gets a expensive jewelry" He replied confused.

"Is that how low you think of me?" She asked hurt.

"Zoya? I thought woman loves jewelry"

"Is this how you would have pacified your Ammi?"

"She was different, she would be happy with a sorry"

"And what makes you think I want is jewelry? You even know I don't like wearing any.." Asad bit his inner cheek, Zoya didn't want to wear any jewelry, it was him who forced her to wear them.

"Asad I don't want your money or expensive jewelry, you apologizing would have been enough, instead of apologizing, you are spending money on the gift, thinking I will be happy by jewelry means you think I am materialistic and am the one who loves money ... you have hurt me Asad" She whispered her eyes glistening with tears. Was this another addition in the names given to her? Unlucky, ill-omened, characterless and now a gold digger?
