Part Fifty-Seven

"Is it correct?" The worker asked after fixing the decor item she had ordered him to fix.

"Huh" Faiqa wasn't paying attention, her eyes were darting outside to check if he had arrived. She focused back at the wall.

"It's okay" She replied. The worker got down, she told the worker , position of the other pieces to be fixed and joined her teammates sitting in corner of the same room, checking the blueprints on a laptop. She sat beside them and sighed. She was beginning to worry because of Arbaaz's absence at the site, he would always arrive with them but today he didn't, she wanted to thank him, this was the second time he saved her, she hoped nothing serious had happened to him, she had been restless since yesterday when she saw him being taken to hospital, she prayed for his recovery.

Arbaaz left the hospital after getting his bandage changed, he was given tetanus shot yesterday, his wound was cleaned and bandaged, it wasn't deep but he was advised the get his bandage changed for next three days. He thought about calling Asad and informing he would be late but then decided against it, Asad looked stressed these days and he didn't want to add more to it. He was asked by Asad to shift back to his bungalow and that Zoya had forgiven him yet he couldn't bring himself to go back there, he wanted to do things on his own and not be a burden on anyone. He thought he was getting ready to take a step towards marriage but he wasn't. The more he had reflected on his life the more wary he became at thought of marriage, he can't trust someone to be so close to him, he cannot love anyone, he was fixed on it. He would never let anyone come in his life, a person that could make him vulnerable. He was preparing a perfect speech that his aunts can't argue and let him be, then a conversation with Asad and importance of Nikah in Islam, made him change his decision, Asad's words had left him hopeful and this time he wasn't going to change it, he was going to complete half of his deen, he was going to trust Allah to grant him a spouse who was correct for him and some corner of his heart the fear still remained, he doubted that he won't be able trust the new person that would enter his life, was he making a mistake by even thinking of getting married, a relationship where there maybe no trust and he would be spoiling someone's life along with his. He was being torn in two minds, he shrugged the feeling off and tried to concentrate on his work.

He arrived at the site, he called one of the male intern to give him the information regarding the work they did since morning. He was in open area where the construction work was still going on, the intern was telling him about the blueprint, he felt a gaze on him and looked up at opposite building where the interns were doing their work. He frowned finding no one, he concentrated back on the file in his hand and discussed with the intern.

Faiqa backed from the window, she relaxed finding him back on site and he looked fine. She just wanted to thank him ,that would reduce her guilt as he got hurt while saving her and she hoped it would help her stop thinking about him. She excused herself from her colleagues and went down. She stopped in lobby of the building, he was near the construction area, the workers were carrying out their work while he was near the table with a file laid open infront of him, the supervisor informed him something and left to keep an eye on the workers, she was glad no one was around him, the workers downstairs were far enough. She mustered some courage and walked towards him. He looked at her as he heard shuffling of feet.

"Yes?" He asked as she stood there without saying anything. She couldn't understand why was she so nervous all of a sudden, yes she did hesitate to talk to him but why was she suddenly nervous. He frowned as she turned to go without saying anything then shook her head and faced him again.

"Sir I just wanted to thank you for yesterday, Jazak Allahu Khayran " She said quickly.

"Wa 'iyyaki" He replied remembering what Zoya had explained him in past.
