Part Five

You may deny, you may resist but you still end up with the one you are destined to be for your life, it's beyond your control.

"Zoya is ready for the Nikha and we were thinking Nikha can be done ..." Gafoor was interrupted.

"Mr.Farooqi, Nikha will happen tomorrow" Asad said rolling the paper weight on his table.

"What? tomorrow but.."

"Its my Nikha and the deal depends on this Nikha and so why waste time? Tomorrow the Nikha will be done in masjid near your residence after all parents have some wishes for their child mine aren’t alive so....And what is needed for Nikha? Qaazi sahab who could conduct the marriage, guardian,  My cousin can be witness from my side and You and anyone of your family for same...About dresses for Nikha it can be done in simple clothes too but if you want there’s a boutique which will arrange mine and Zoya’s clothes, just select and buy....Anything else? Or Mr.Farooqi are you waiting for a accident and I should die?" Asad spoke while Gafoor was listening to him sadly.

The past week was stressful one for Asad, there had been many things on his mind, marriage, his dad's business, the deal everything was giving him a sinking feeling, he wanted all those but not in this way, but he couldn't even refuse what he was being offered, its too tempting to refuse, When he reached home his guilt had intensified, his parents would be disappointed with him if they knew what he has done, if not him it would have been someone else in his place, Gafoor looked desperate to get his daughter married and something else lingered in his eyes, was it fear? But for what?

When he was sitting here and going through an inner battle about accepting the things being offered without him asking, how should the person feel who asks the bride's parents for things in that name of dowry ? But he hadn't seen such people who feel ashamed of begging in the name of dowry , where was their self respect or manliness that they boast about while pressurising their wife's parents , never seen anyone feeling ashamed but instead they go boasting what they gained in dowry, how they blackmailed, and even have guts to hurt and order around their wife with no regrets. What were men becoming? If they are really men then prove it by providing their wife, respecting women not by forcing their manliness on women and begging for alms in the name of tradition from Bride's parents. Who should be blamed ? parents who want their daughters married at any cost, men for loosing their self respect or women for forgetting their value or overestimating it or blackmailing their parents wishing to marry a guy who has no self-respect and begs for dowry? Well it takes two hands to clap. Asad ran his hand frustratedly in his hair, what should he do leave the proposal, he had wanted this since long, he had been thinking about merger and how to convince Mr.Farooqi , now it was him asking Asad to merge his company.

He did understand Gafoor's condition upto a certain extent , the society had made Zoya sound so evil unfortunate presence and as a father he took a desperate step ,Asad knew if he refused the only other person who would be willing to grab the deal would be Raza Baig Firm, the owner has just passed it to his son who was anything but a good man and not to forget the cunning wife of the owner and Zoya would be better with him than with that drunkard and evil Mother-in-law. Why should he feel guilty when it was her father himself offering everything not that he forced it out of  him and his guilt eased up a little, in a tiny corner of his heart he still felt insulted and guilty. Then he planned things to be done, an inner feeling told him delay wasn't correct in this case. So he only waited patiently for Gafoor's answer with things already planned and he knew he was being mean here as he knew their condition and would agree to all his whims because they wanted Zoya to be married at any cost and he didn't even worry about her unluckiness because he doesn't believe in such things, He may not be that perfect Muslim , enough to understand and trying to follow his Creator's orders but after all he was a human bound to sin, and that human nature guided him to accept the marriage and business it brought along.
