Part Twenty Six

"I will take Zoya back with me"

Gafoor raised eyebrow at Asad's confident statement. They were in his study after dinner, Gafoor led Asad here to have a conversation with him.

"What makes you think..."

"I am taking her back once my aunts leave and" Gafoor interrupted him.

"We will let Zoya decide" Gafoor said.

"There's no need of it" Asad remarked.

"Why would that be?"

"The same reason you had while getting her married" Asad looked at Gafoor challengingly.

"But I don't see any change in her even after the marriage" Gafoor stated.

"There definitely is a change, you don't expect me to change her mind and bring her out of the fear she lived in, over a year in just few weeks!" Asad stated, this was a unprinted clause of their deal. Gafoor's reason for getting her married was not just about his health and worried for her but he thought her fears would end when she gets married without any accidents , she will see whatever happened was just coincidences but she wasn't over the fear yet and neither has she stopped calling herself unlucky.

"This is not working, I want her to be normal like before, she.." Asad watched carefully as Gafoor's face was contorted with frustration and hopelessness, Zoya was definitely his weakness.

"And about your projects" Gafoor started, Asad sat up alert.

"I had a thorough discussion with teams" They discussed about the possibility where things might have gone wrong.

"You still ate less" Asad stated, they were in Zoya's room, it was almost midnight.

"You can't expect me to get well in a day"

"You still feel nauseated?" She nodded.

"You know you have to eat well, it's not good for the baby, I mean if there's a baby" He added as Zoya stared at him tiredly.

"Asad.."

"And that reminds me I forgot to collect your reports!" He exclaimed.

"There is no need of it and there's no baby" she said seriously.

"Zoya.." Zoya held his hands.

"I am not praying Asad" she informed.

"Of course you aren't praying, wait... You mean... Are you sure?" He looked at her sceptically.

"Seriously? You are asking am I sure?!" She said unbelievingly.

"Fine.." he couldn't cover up his disappointment.

"always disappoint me " He muttered, but Zoya heard him, her head shot up, she stared at Asad as he gazed at the floor, trying to get over the thought of her expecting his child. They sat in silence, each going through their own thoughts.

"You going?" She asked as he stood up.

"Obvious isn't it?" He replied.

"Stay?" She said unsure of his reply.

"Don't you want me to stay away?" He asked sarcastically, Zoya sighed.

"I can't Zoya." He added as her face fell.
