Jasper Hale cried out in dry sobs as he cradled the body of his love to his marble chest. Blood dripped on to the floor but he couldn't feel the blood lust. All he could feel was her love pouring into him as she gazed at him through clouded eyes. She was fading from life, but she felt no pain. All she could feel was his sorrow and she wanted to erase it. They had planned so many adventures and she had a life full of dreams. The question in her eyes began to disappear... Along with her breath. In that moment Jasper knew he couldn't live his immortal life without her. She took away his pain and made him feel the happiness she always radiated. She didn't judge him for his violent past. She actually encouraged him to embrace it, to let it teach him how to live a good life.

So as Honey Smith's eyes began to close for the last time, Jasper Whitlock Hale decided to change her fate.

His cold lips pressed to her neck and he whispered three words into her skin he had never come up with the courage to say before. He plunged his teeth into her throat and shut his eyes in disgust at himself when the taste of her blood filled his mouth. He knew then that he wouldn't be able to stop. He wasn't strong enough. And he had made a grave mistake...

It was a cold overcast day in the forests of Northern California. A small town radiated life as the buzz of gossip filled the streets. 'I hear a new family moved into town! Right on Pooh's Corner!' 'Well I heard that they have a bunch of foster kids! Teenage ones!' 'Oh no! Sounds like a group of trouble makers!'
A mile away at the small High school of Mountain Ridge (population 207) the Cullens were huddled in a corner during lunch. As Rose grumbled about a boy in her history class who would not take no for an answer, Alice's eyes glazed over.
"She is here! She is coming this way!" She cheered as she clung to her to brother's arm.
"What? Who?"
"Your mate, Jazzy!"
"My what?!"
Just as Jasper Hale put all the pieces together as to why they had moved her and why Edward and Alice had been whispering among  themselves... He smelt it.The scent of honey, caramel and Granny Smith apples filled his nose. It was the most beautiful smell and even if he hadn't tasted those things in almost two hundred years he knew he loved them. He was so distracted by the smell that he didn't notice the young woman appear behind him.

"Hello there." A smooth voice with a light touch of a southern accent chimed like bells from behind him.

He couldn't stop himself from gasping as he found her face. She was beautiful. More beautiful than anyone he had ever seen. Soft grey eyes met the harshness of gold in a clash of life and death. Prey and predator. Gentle and violent. Her dark chocolate hair danced across her face as the unruly curls bounced in the breeze from the open door. Her curved figure clad in a long sleeve white sweater dress with thick black leggings and matching white snow boots. Her lips were full and the color of summer roses. He found himself desperate to kiss those lips and know their taste. As Jasper studied her face it was then he saw the horrific scars down one side of her neck and up her face to below her left eye. Burns. Horrible horrible burns. He let loose a feral low growl, so low that only the other vampires at the table heard it. Emmett was ready to grab his brother if he made a move for the woman, thinking  that his control was wavering, yet Edward placed his hand on his chest and stopped him. He gave a small shake of his head as the mind reader found that the southern vampire's control was not what made him growl. But the thought that this beautiful woman in front of him had been hurt so badly... And that he wasn't there to stop it.

"I am sorry to spook you. Most people have that reaction." She sighed and gave a light smile.

"No no no. We are sorry. WE shouldn't be staring. Just caught us a little off guard." Edward spoke to the girl as he landed a harsh kick into Jasper's shin to knock him from his trance.

"No harm done." The girl waved it off and hummed as she looked closely at each of the vampires. When he eyes caught Jasper's again even she felt the pull to the beautiful young man, "I am Honey Smith, the peer advocate here at Mountain Ridge. You must be the Cullens and Hales."

"What a cute name! I love it! I am Alice and these are my siblings, Edward, Emmett, Rose and -"

"Jasper." Jasper said never once removing his eyes from Honey's.

"Welcome to Mountain Ridge, Alice, Emmett, Rose, Edward, and... Jasper."

Jasper thought he felt his un-beating heart soar as his name fell from her lips...

The memory sung to Jasper as he remembered the first time he laid eyes on the girl who stole his heart. Reality came crashing down and he ripped away from her throat. Blood fell from his lips as he screamed her name. Her body had curled up as the venom burned inside her. Wordless screams filled the air as she cried out in the pain. It was like reliving the worst day of her life. Jasper held her as he grabbed his phone and called for Carlisle to come and help him. As he gave his adopted father directions his head filled with memories of her to drown out her screams...

"Hey! Jasper! Wait up!" The girl yelled as she ran down the hall to catch her new friend.
Jasper jokingly continued to walk as he flashed her an innocent smile over his shoulder. When she caught him she gave him a playful smack to the back of his head resulting in a sore palm.
"Jeez! I knew you were a hard head but ow!"
Jasper rolled his eyes and grinned as she wrapped her arms around his own. They strode through the halls chatting about their days and all he could think about was kissing her.

"Oh, Japser!" Honey screamed as she looked up to find the said man leaning on her desk, "Don't do that! You scared the Willie's out of me!"
"Not my fault you scare to easy." He smirked and leaned in close to her face, noses almost brushing. His good eyes darkened as a bright blush covered her cheeks and her tongue barely escaped her lips to wet them.
"Will you- Jasper- Stop looking at-" she stammered and scrambled backwards only to fall backwards out of her stool and hit the carpet behind her.
She groaned as she listened to Jasper's laugh as she too soon began to giggle.

"So... It's true then."
"What's true?"
"You know what I am talking about, Jasper."
"Do I?"
"Stop playing games with me."
"Are you afraid?"
"Will you hurt me?"
"I could never hurt you."
"Then no. I am not afraid."
"You should be."
"Why? Because you drink blood from bunnies?"
"Actually have never had a rabbit before. Always go for bigger prey."
"So... Yogi Bear?"
" ... Yes, Honey. I caught and killed Yogi Bear."
"Was it because he stole your picnic basket full of bunnies?
"I just confirmed that I am a vampire and you're concerned about me killing a cartoon bear over a picnic basket."
"A basket full of bunnies."

"Jasper Hale put me down this instant!"
"Hm ... Nope." He gave his signature smirk.
"Why not?!" She whined as she struggled uselessly against his hold.
"I quite enjoy the view." He hummed as his eyes found hers over his shoulder. Jasper's thoughts were anything but a gentleman's as the woman was thrown over his shoulder. He could almost purr at the sight of her bare legs leading up to under her dress. He could make out the curve as her thighs met her bottom just at the edge of the fabric. Longing to run his hands over her soft curv-
"JASPER! PUT ME DOWN YOU PERVERT!"

Honey Smith was the only weakness Jasper Hale ever had. And one day when man caught her in an alley and took her innocence and nearly her life... He finally told her how much she meant to him.
