Bailey Jones ran through the back allies of Volterra, her breath short and heart racing in her chest. The sun had set and the moon was now high in the sky, acting as her only light source as she tried to escape the two men following her. She sobbed as she heard their echoing laughter, taunting her. Somewhere deep inside her heart she knew that running was pointless, they had shown her how fast they could move. Was this really it? Was this how she died? This was her end? To be a vampire's meal?
Marcus sighed as he gazed out the window and watched over the city of Volterra. Red eyes scanned the streets and buildings. Ice cold fingers tapped on the window sill impatiently as he heard Aro prattle on. Just as he turned to address something Aro had said... he saw it. Out of hundreds of threads linking the town together, one reached out to him. The brilliant gold thread latched itself to his chest. Marcus shot up so quickly that his chair was sent flying backwards, nearly crashing into Caius who ducked.
"Marcus! What are you doing!?" Caius roared in anger, but Aro held him back with one hand.
"Brother? What is it?" Aro asked and reached out for his brother's hand, but Marcus ignored him staring hard into the night.
"Mate." Marcus hissed under his breath, eyes locked on the golden thread.
The other two Kings froze as Marcus leaped from the open window, scaling down the rooftops and jumping to a different building.
"Brother...? Did he say mate?"
"Come, Caius." Aro flipped himself over the edge of the window sill and followed after Marcus, Caius soon following as well.
Bailey skidded passed a trash can and narrowly avoided tripping. Behind her she heard one of the men getting closer to her. She rolled out of the way and crashed into a dead end wall. She clawed at the brick walls, desperate for any kind of grip she could use to escape... but she was out of luck. She spun around and let out choked sobs as she saw the two men appear before her. Their red eyes were trained on her every move, teeth prepared to dig into flesh.
"Well, well, if it isn't the pretty little mouse." the one on the right spoke taking several steps forward.
"Can't outrun the cats can you, little mouse?" The one beside him chuckled and beckoned her forward, "Why don't you come here for us, pet?"
"L-leave me alone." Bailey cried out and pressed herself flat against the wall.
"Don't be like that, little mouse." the first one grinned and made a grab for her, but Bailey screamed and threw herself into the wall, head crashing against the brick.
Her eyesight began to blur and she crumpled onto the ground. The last thing she saw was the two men crouching in front of her... then it was completely black.
"How disappointing. I prefer my meals to be screaming."
"Shall we dig i-"
"You won't be digging into anything, gentleman."
The two men froze and turned on their heels to see the three Kings standing in the alley behind them.
"Get lost. This one is ours."
"Oh I can assure you... she is far from yours."
"Hunting in Volterra is forbidden."
"The Kings are to busy sitting on their polished thrones to notice one human missing."
"Unfortunately, for you... us Kings have left our thrones."
"And you picked the wrong human for your meal."

Bailey's eyes fluttered open slowly and she groaned in pain, reaching up to grab her head but something cold was pressed to her scalp. Her eyes widened as a pale hand reached out to caress her cheek. She let out a yelp and tried to scoot away from the hand, but a different set of arms she hadn't noticed tightened around her waist.
