Jane Volturi was one of the Volturi's Prized Elite. A powerful warrior and clever opponent. Many only saw her gift, but the small girl was much more than that. She was trained and could easily defeat any enemy without even considering the use of her gift. She is overlooked and greatly feared all at once. Viewed as a part of a set, her and her twin, Alec. A weapon. Yet, the rest of their coven did not see her that way. They saw her as a being with a true heart and emotions. They saw the pain in her eyes, not just the pain she caused with those eyes. Her human life had been tragic and she suffered greatly. That pain carrying over to her vampire life.
Only two people could ease her pain. Of course, one was her brother Alec. And the other was her mate, Camile. Camile was once a proud member of the Volturi coven, though ungifted she was a fierce warrior. Raised as an Amazonian several hundred years ago she was well trained already. When she met Demetri on one of his missions he saw her worth and brought her home. Marcus was astounded to see the bright brilliance of their shimmering golden bond. From then on Camile was a part of the 'set'. Always found beside Jane and Alec. She worked seamlessly with them. While Jane distracted with pain, Camile ended them. While Alec numbed them, she tore them apart. It was with her that Jane became the loving girl few saw her as.
Jane had finished speaking with Chelsea and Heidi when Felix came rushing into the room. His clothes torn and soaked in venom. The wild look in his eyes made Jane scream, fearing the worst. And she was almost right. She feared the death of her mate, but this... What happened to Camile Volturi was far worse than death. Jane crumbled in front of the Masters, Aro rubbing her back as he tried to calm himself as well. Alec was stunned seeing his sister in so much pain... This was something horrible.
Jane walked down the steps to the dungeons, the walls coated in cobwebs and mildew. She grimaced as she imagined being locked away here... In this hell. Her footsteps echoed down the stone stairs until she finally reached the bottom. There she found a single cell, the rest had been destroyed. Sad red eyes found what they were searching for but not what they wanted to find.
Camile lay on the floor of her cell, her hair matted with blood from the humans they fed her. Her clothing non-existent, nothing but tatters. Her eyes were wild as she took in the sight of her once so precious Jane.
"You again?" She chuckled and eyed the woman before her.
"Camile... How are you today?" Jane tried to control her emotions.
"Is it a new day already?" She hummed licking her lips.
"Yes..." Jane whimpered under her breath.
"You're sad again. Is it because I am broken? Forever mentally shattered?" She sat up and beckoned Jane forward.
"I will find a way to fix this Camile. I swear I will." Jane turned away and covered her mouth to keep the dry sobs from escaping.
"I am a lost cause, Jane. You know as well as I do this is merely a moment of clarity. It will fade away and I will return to the blood thirsty beast that destroyed this place. Spare me. End me." Camile stood and pressed her body to the bars.
"I can't do that. I can't lose you." Jane sobbed reaching out to gently caress her mate's face.
"I was lost the day that witch cast this curse. We have tried to fix it. We can't. The Masters let me live because of you. Free me from this misery. Let me die in peace." Camile leaned forward and let her lips dance across Jane's cheeks.
"How can you ask me to destroy you?" Jane whimpered.
"Because I want the last thing I see to be you, my White Dove." Camile whispered and kissed Jane, as their lips danced together Camile froze.
She ripped away from Jane and threw herself against the far wall. She clutched at her chest and howled in pain before her eyes turned black and once again Camile was Savage. She snarled and threw herself around the cell in blood lust filled rage. Jane backed away and cried out for Alec as she whispered sorry again and again. She hissed in her own despair as she forced her gift upon her mentally lost mate.
Alec nearly tumbled down the stairs in his haste to get to his sister and sister in law. His gift of numbing fog spilled from his palms to ease the crazed vampire he barely recognized. Behind him came Felix to hold back Jane. Jane let out sobs and screams as her mate collapsed to the floor motionless.
Later, Aro found Jane furiously ripping apart books in the library searching for answers. She was screaming angrily and sobbing all at once. No books had the answers she needed to restore her mate. Nothing she had found had worked. No where had the answers. Jane was lost. Aro's undead heart hurt as he watched his young (in her eyes) friend lose her own mind.
"My dear, we have tried looking. It might be time..." Aro sighed and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Master... There must be something somewhere... I need her. I can't lose her." Jane turned sad ruby colored eyes up to her favored Master.
"Jane, I know how you feel. I see it through you. I know how badly you want Camile to return to you... But there are no answers." Aro muttered, "You have to let her go. This is no life for her. You have to let her... Alec can help. It can be... Painless. She won't suffer anymore."
"She isn't a mortal pet! She is my mate. My wife." Jane almost snarled forgetting who she was speaking with.
Aro regeined in his temper and let her go, "You're right, my Dear. I am sorry if I angered you."
"Master... Please. Help me."
"We will find the answer, Jane. The Volturi do not give up on their family."
