"A letter was delivered today." Jasper said passing a beautiful blood red envelope to Carlisle who turned it over to see the Volturi crest stamped in a gold seal.
"It's from the Volturi." Carlisle said furrowing his brows as he opened and quickly scanned the lettering, "The handwriting belongs to Seraphina."
"The Queen?" Bella asked remembering the woman and was the main reason that she was alive right now.
"What does it say, dear?" Esme questioned as she stood to place her hand on her husband's shoulder.
Carlisle held the letter in his hand and ran his fingers through his blonde hair. He read it to himself first and then sighed before beginning to read it aloud to his family.

"To My Dearest Friend,

I would say that this letter finds you in perfect health, but we both know that you are fit as can be, aren't you Doctor? So I suppose it is an unneeded concern of mine. I have received word from my eldest children that your family survived a nearly fatal attack. I am beyond pleased to hear no one from your family was harmed and that the newborns were taken care of. I wished to express my condolences as to the loss of the young one, Bree, that you intended to welcome into your coven. What a loss. My children can be quite rash and hasty with their decisions. Especially my Jane, she takes the laws of our kind deeply to heart. I write this letter to inform you that a newborn from the army meant to destroy you actually came to us seeking guidance. It seems that he left the army before the attack when he learned that sunlight didn't harm us. It would appear that the vengeful Victoria and her pretender mate told the newborns that you were vile murderers who would destroy them. And that wooden stakes and sunlight actually could kill us! Can you believe that, old friend? A wooden stake? How stupid. Though I guess we can thank Aro for that blasted rumor in the first place. But alas that is not the reason for this letter ... The young one who came to me has given me word of a pack of wolves you hold a treat with. I can trust that they are not Children of the Moon, Carlisle, since you know well the dangers. You will be pleased to know I stopped Caius from traveling there to 'Rip their fur from their mangy flea bitten bodies and let the crows feast on their flesh' as I do believe he said. Such a temper. We wouldn't want to start another war now would we? I do hope you will tell me more of these wolves when you and your coven, including the mortal mate of your son, attend this year's ball. I can trust you will be in attendance, can't I? I do so miss your company and have yet to meet your family officially. Enclosed you will find tickets for the flight and your formal invitations. Perhaps you could bring along your wolfy friends... Though I figure they would be greatly opposed. Inform them that if and when they decide to attend that I will personally send Felix to deliver their invitations. I vow that no harm shall come to them as long as they in turn vow not to bite any of my children or other family members. I look forward to seeing you, Carlisle.
With Regards,
Seraphina Volturi"

The Cullens all held an unnecessary breath as they all thought of the thousands of outcomes. Carlisle scanned the room and made eye contact with Alice hoping she could see anything to help them decide, but the seer shook her head sadly.
"The Ball is being held in 13 days. What are we going to do?" Esme gulped nervous as she held the gold leaf invitation in her hands and the tickets in the other.
"We have no choice but to go. If we don't then we risk angering the Queen and we do not want that." Carlisle sat down on the couch and folded his hands in his lap.
"You can't be serious, Carlisle. Bella is still human!" Edward protested and held Bella to his chest.
"Seraphina knows that and is she hasn't said anything negative about it then we shouldn't fear. She trusts that she will be turned. And she trusts that we will go. I won't break that trust with her." Carlisle stated and eyed his eldest child.
"No! There has to be-" Edward hissed out.
"No, Edward. I have made up my mind. We are All going to that Ball and you will not try to convince me otherwise. You met her. You know at least a bit what she is like. We are friends for a reason." Carlisle said standing as he put his foot down, causing Edward to turn his head and frown.
"What about the wolves? They won't seriously agree to going." Rose sighed and looked up at her own husband who rolled his shoulders back.
"Seraphina is close to many different species of the supernatural. There are many who attend so it won't be only vampires. I am sure I can convince Sam to go of he knows there will be other creatures." Carlisle said as he was deep in thought.
"Other creatures?" Bella asked confused about what could possibly be out there.
"Yes. Other creatures. I know that the Queen is close to many leaders from other species. I, myself, have met a few over the years. The Fae will certainly be in attendance as they always look forward to social gatherings. The Krinoka will also be there, as their princess has been close friends with Seraphina for over 800 years."
"Do you think any of the Guardians will be there? I haven't seen them in a long time." Esme smiled as she thought of the magical protectors of the realm.
"Winter and Summer may go. I don't think Fall will be there as she is still in the process of taking care of the newborn Spring." Carlisle mused.
"How many things are there?" Bella gulped nervously.
"You would be surprised how many supernatural creatures aren't really myths, Bella." Jasper said raising an eyebrow at the human.

Across the world, the Queen of vampires lay in her bed as she read over the RSVPs for the celebration for her birthday. Even after all these years she still found it hard to believe that Aro insisted on having the Ball even though she no longer aged and had quite forgotten how long she had actually be alive.
"Any words from the Cullens yet, my dear?" The before mentioned King hummed against his wife's skin as he brushed his nose across her shoulder.
"Not yet, though I suspect they have only just received my letter." She said as she tilted her head giving him more access to her skin to kiss.
"I still don't see why you even bothered to invite those mongrels." Caius hissed from the edge of the bed as he let his legs dangle off the side and his head lay in her lap.
"Because darling they aren't Children of the Moon and if they are friendly perhaps we can build a new alliance. You don't have to harm everything that happens to turn into a dog." She sighed and leaned down to brush her lips over his temple, attempting to soothe the fair headed King.
"Our Queen speaks wisdom, Brother. It would be wise to listen to her council." Marcus quietly spoke as his fingers danced across his wife's dainty feet that lay in his own lap.
Caius grumbled curses under his breath and moved to bury his face into her stomach and wrap his arms around her. This in turn pushed away Aro whose gaze narrowed at his brother and he snapped his teeth at him. Caius looked up to glare at him as he began to move up to take over more of the space their wife had. As the two fought for the right to embrace their Queen, she simply turned and rolled whichever way she could so she could continue to go over who she could expect. When Aro reached over to smack Caius's hand away from her hips she finally groaned and made pleading eyes at the husband who tubbed her feet.
Marcus chuckled and in a flash had her straddled in his lap with his face pressed to her collarbone. His brothers hissed as they tumbled into each other and in turn fell off the bed in an ungraceful fashion. Seraphina laughed as they both sat up to glare before she quickly threw her papers across the room before they were torn to shreds. The two brothers leaped forward and caught Marcus in a tackle and she slipped away to gather the papers across the floor.
When she stood up and placed them on the desk she turned to find the pillows in pieces as feathers floated in the air. Marcus looked bored as Caius was tangled in the blankets and Aro was huffing in annoyance as he pulled feather from his tongue.
The Queen rolled her red eyes and gave a devilish smirk as she reached up to undo the clasp that kept her dress up. When it hit the floor three sets of eyes burned into her soul as she let her hips sway. She began the walk to the bathroom for a bath and looked over her shoulder with a teasing smile. And the three fearsome Kings were powerless to say no when she beckoned them to join her.
