Gwendolyn enjoyed the fresh sea breeze of La Push beach as she strolled along the wet sand. Her hands folded behind her back clutching her flats and her hair loose in the wind. As she stared at the water she decided to redye her hair a sea blue as the pink was now beginning to fade away. She turned her attention to her pocket as her phone began to ring and she pulled it out, only to groan at the caller ID.
"Whatever idea you have now I refuse to participate, Isabella."
"Come on, Gwen. It wasn't that bad." The pale skinned brunette on the phone sighed.
"You tried to disappear into the night with a random man on a motorcycle. I have you told you before I will not be there to witness anymore of your idiotic ideas."
"But I told you it was so I cou-"
"Yes, yes, I know. So you could see Edward. Isabella, your behavior is irresponsible and absolutely ridiculous. You saw your ex-boyfriend in your imagination and decided to put yourself in danger. That's so beyond unhealthy I don't know what to say. You are my friend and I care about you, but I am this close to informing your father about these delusional breaks you are experiencing." Gwendolyn snarled and tried hard to control her breathing.
"You swore you wouldn't tell Charlie anything!"
"That was before you could have been raped or killed, Isabella!"
"You're just jealous!"
"Jealous?! Of your stupidity??"
"No! Of the fact that I have Edward and you have never been with anyone. Jealous because I found someone to love me while you're still trying to find your place in life. It's pathetic that you would ever dare to judge me when you have no solid footing."
Gwendolyn took in a deep breath and stood straight, "Isabella, I do believe that our friendship has ended. Delete my number and never call me again."
"No, wait, Gwen! I am sorry. I didn't mean it. Plea-"
"Goodbye, Miss Swan."
When she hung up on her once dearest friend she felt a wave of pain fill her. But she refused to shed tears for a girl who would snap so easily. She had tried so hard to help Bella after Edward left. She spent months by her side and even took to caring for Charlie since the man couldn't cook anything to save his life. She slipped her shoes on and walked up the beach to where her car was parked by some picnic benches. There she spotted a group of three boys, each shirtless and tanned to perfection. She scanned them curiously and decided to approach them.
"Excuse me, but could you please point me in the direction of the residence of Jacob Black?" She asked causing the boys to look her.
Sam Uley spun around to face the voice and found himself facing the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. And when his eyes met hers the alpha froze. He saw them together walking through the woods and laughing as she flung mud in his face. He saw them sitting on the beach watching stars before they shared their first kiss. He saw her standing in his kitchen baking for the pack and smacking Paul's hands away from the cookie dough. He saw her laying in his bed with her hair strewn across his pillows. He saw her standing in a white dress by his side with a wicked smirk as she whispered in his ear before they shared their first kiss as man and wife. He saw his future in her eyes and he knew.
Sam Uley had imprinted on this girl and he was desperate to hear her voice again.
"Excuse me? Do you know him?"
"Huh? Who?"
"Jacob Black."
"Billy's kid?" Paul asked as he looked between the two with a smirk while he elbowed Jared.
"Yes. I need to speak with him about a... Once mutual friend of ours."
"Well I know him but I don't know where his place is. Do you, Paul?" Jared asked as he smirked back and rose an eyebrow.
"Why no I don't, Jared. But wait... Sam? You go to the Blacks house every week. You could show this nice lady the way." Paul snickered and Gwendolyn tilted her head to the side as she looked up and the down this 'Sam'.
"Sam Uley?" She questioned and Sam felt his knees grow weak as his name fell from this lips.
"Yes. That's me."
"You were the one who found Isabella Swan a while back."
" Yeah. You know her?" Sam grew nervous wondering if she could possibly know about Bella's friendship with the Cullen Coven.
"Yes. We were friends since she moved here. However that has very recently changed." She frowned as she stared off into the forest behind Sam and he did not like it one bit.
"Changed?"
"Sometimes you can never take back the words you say to someone. Anyway, Jacob Black. You know the way? I would be deeply glad if you could point me in the direction."
Sam nodded and began to walk towards the Blacks house which was only about a ten minute walk. The girl walked by his side and he secretly inhaled her scent. She smelled of chocolate chip cookies, apple cider, and pumpkin pie. After a minute of silence the girl stopped and her eyes widened.
"Oh my! How rude of me! My name is Gwendolyn Hanson." She laughed as she put her hand out to Sam.
When their hands connected both of them felt the supernatural pull. Gwendolyn's eyes widened as she looked up at Sam. The feeling was so intense she knew right away that there was something special with this man. This beautiful man named Sam Uley.
"Uley? Right?" She whispered.
"Yeah. Uley. Sam Uley. Gwendolyn is an unique name." He smiled softly at their still connected hands.
"Yes it a bit odd isn't it?" She giggled and felt her walls begin to crumble.
"A unique name for a beautiful girl." Sam gulped as the words fell from his mouth.
The two let go of their hands and continued their walk in a peaceful silence. Each taking glances at the other the whole way. When the house with a ramp for the wheel chair bound Billy Black appeared Sam swallowed as he tried to find the words to say.
"Would you like to join me for a coffee tomorrow morning?"
His eyebrows furrowed as the words tumbled from not him, but from her. She was gazing at him expectedly. And all he could do was nod.
