They Don't Know About Us (Emmett)

People say we shouldn't be together

Emmett Cullen spent his day trying hard to avoid his mind reading brother, which really wasn't as hard as he thought it would be. Edward was much to busy following around Bella Swan like a lost puppy. So when the school day was over Emmett told Jasper that he was going to go hunting and the large Cullen disappeared into the woods. He ran for miles and miles until he finally came to a familiar cave on neutral ground. When he entered the cave he grinned as he caught the scent of his mate. His grin soon became a smirk when he saw that her shoes and backpack were tossed carelessly to the side.
"Where ya hiding, babe?" Emmett chuckled but stopped in confusion when he saw her pile of clothes not far away from her shoes.
As he bent down to pick up her pants a noise and the scent of fresh blood caught his attention. The vampire stood rigid ready to attack until he saw a familiar large wolf dragging a small bear into the cave. Emmett smiled fondly as the wolf tossed the injured bear towards him and he plunged his teeth into it. He kept his eyes on the wolf who sat and stared at him with calculating eyes.
The wolf gave a snort when he blew a kiss at it and picked up  the clothes in it's mouth before moving out of sight. Emmett tossed the now empty bear aside and waited. A few moments later his beautiful mate came back into view now human and dressed.

"You know, when I said we should go out for lunch I didn't expect you to bring me a doggy bag." Emmett laughed and wrapped his arms around her.
"Well aren't you just full of jokes today." Carrie rolled her eyes but gave in happily when Emmett kissed her.

They don't know about the things we do

Now it is probably odd to you that Emmett Cullen was romantically involved with a wolf shifter. It still seemed odd to them, but they never doubted it. Carrie was the cousin of Jacob Black and the second female shifter in the pack. However she had the annoying ability to keep her thoughts to herself and away from her pack. Hence how she had been dating Emmett for four months and no one knew. Though Emmett was sure that Jasper suspected something was up when he sensed the change in Emmett's emotions. They had decided to keep it a secret after Carrie had had a conversation with Sam about imprinting.
"Sam? You've imprinted right? On Emily? What's it like?"
"You become anchored to this world through your imprint. They are all that matters. You become whatever they need. Whatever they want. A friend. A brother or sister. A protector. A lover. Why?"
"Just curious. Do you think anyone has ever imprinted on a vampire?"
"No... Why?"
"Well Bella mentioned that vampires have mates like us wolves have imprints. Made me think."
"No one has imprinted on a vampire, Carrie. And no one will."
"How are you so sure?"
"Because the spirits wouldn't pair a wolf with a disgusting creature. And if they did then... It would spark a war."
"A war? Why? I though imprints were protected."
"I won't protect a leech."
After that Carrie had decided it was safer to not tell her alpha that she had imprinted on Emmett the night Paul tackled him into the river.

While it was easy for her to hide their relationship it was hard for Emmett. He always found himself thinking of her and that was dangerous with nosey Edward around. Thankfully Alice couldn't see anything about it because Carrie was a wolf. And Jasper could only sense the change in emotions. Though Jasper was most definitely suspicious of his little brother. Emmett had went from being lonely and angry at everything to being ... In love and happy. Jasper figured Emmett had met his mate but when he didn't tell the family he figured Emmett wasn't ready. So he stayed out of it and respected his brother's privacy until he was ready.
