cyrus| i: soft

i sit on the bus (the left side to be more specific). the bus is manic, not that i notice much  - just from the odd glances around, because my eyes keep wandering over to the same blonde sat specifically on the right side, two seats in front. i notice he has his earphones in, probably to block out the loud chatter of the annoying students around us.

oh shit.
he caught me staring and that is not good.

you see, this particular blonde is one of the most popular people at jefferson, who happens to be a mean, egotistical basketball player. he also happens to be mortal enemies with my best friend.

i've talked to him a couple times and he seems nice i guess. but buffy's my best friend and i do not want to make her angry.

there were two occasions that made me rethink my opinions of the boy, the first is when he bought me the chocolate chip muffin, and the second, the second was at 'our' place, which is were i learned he had stuff. i know he has dyscalculia because of buffy tutoring him, and i guess he also confided in me then.

but buffy didn't want me to hang around him as he was a 'bad influence' and yeah sure he has a bad rep but there's more to him then meets the eye.

anyway back to the story.

he sends me this half smile, before turning back around, and i feel my cheeks start to burn. i'm just embarrassed he caught me looking at him right?

finally the bus pulled up outside the school, and i watch as kids shove each other to get out, hence why i wait in my seat until the entire bus is clear. i guess tj had the same idea because now we're the only two on it.

"after you" he politely offers and i send a small smile to him. "so um, how have you been?"

"i've been good, i would have talked to you but you know how buffy is..."

"nah it's cool muffin, i'll see you around?" i couldn't speak, i mean... muffin? is that a nickname? for me? from THE tj kippen? i watched him walk away and finally gathered my thoughts as i made my way to my locker to meet up with the good hair crew - plus jonah.

"hey guys!" i got a chorus of replies before they turn back to the main topic of the conversation, whatever that was, which left me stood there awkwardly.

i look around the almost empty halls and spot tj typing on his phone, just as i'm about to walk over to him, my phone beeps.

tj:
heyyy ccm, you look bored over there,you wanna come hang w me
for a bit before my friends get here?
:) x

i smile down at my phone before walking towards him, ignoring my best friends looks.

"twice in one day, this has to be a record!" i joke around.

"maybe i just wanna spend time with the dorkiest person i know."

i tried to pull an angry face but it must not have gone to plan since he just poked my cheek.

"what music were you listening to this morning?" curiosity gained the better of me. i was expecting him to say post malone or drake however his answer surprised me.

"cavetown." he shrugged and a blush spread across his cheeks. was he... embarrassed?"

"wow that's... deep and not at all what i was expecting." tj only shrugged at my comment. "is the big scary basketball guy really just a big softie?"

"nope, but i guess i'm just soft around you."
