The holidays flew by, and the fifth month of 1971 was creeping through when Audrey and John had to suffer the biggest tragedy yet. Spring was starting to end and showing evident signs of a very hot summer. But still, despite the nice weather, nothing could make both of them help but feel a little bit uncomfortable.

The Deacon twins had just moved in a flat downstairs, and they honestly didn't expect them to be such a nuisance. Audrey knew she promised she would look after them to her parents, but honestly, she couldn't care less about them. It was just the way they were, not that she didn't accept them, but they were kind of a pest to her.

She knew everything was going to be alright as long as the idiots didn't step a foot on her holy grounds: the record store and the bar.

However, it wasn't even a week that passed by, and she already hated the idea of seeing their faces all the time. "John, can't I just bloody murder them?", she asked as she saw them both sink into their couch and munch chips loudly as they laughed while watching Crossroads.

"Believe me, if that was a solid option, I was going to dig in", he said while sipping his coffee.

Audrey sighed. Freddie was occupied with his own business since he joined the re-named band Queen after Tim left the band, so he wasn't that much of a good distraction for her now - also adding the fact that he met what he said that was 'the love of his life'. She was very happy for her friend, he seemed to have found something to do with his life, a band and a girlfriend.

"You know", John interrupted her thoughts. "I was thinking about joining a band", he said sternly, as knowing that after the holidays, Audrey stopped playing at the bar and writing songs since she was so stressed by the presence of the twins. She realised singing for the public wasn't really her thing as songwriting was.

"You should do it", she supported with a smile. That's when she remembered. They needed a bassist after the Mike Grose fella was kind of kindly kicked out of the band when they felt he wasn't flowing with their style. "Hey, I've got an idea", she gave him the biggest smile ever, and he was clearly intrigued by it. "Let's go to the pub tonight", she whispered, trying not to get the twins' attention.

"Alright, but mind to tell me your idea?", he furrowed his brows.

"Nope, you only have to bring your bass and your cute little ass with me", she said after laughing at her cousin's expression, he was grossed out at her words but just shook his head at her.

When the night came and her shift at the record store was over, Deaky was waiting for her outside with his bass case on his hands. "See ya tomorrow, Ben!", she turned to see him, he was almost sweating. "Ready, Deaky?", he nodded, looking forward to whatever was going to happen next.

They made their way into the bar where Queen - the band usually plays, they were holding auditions there, since it was tuesday night and it was almost empty even at that time of the year.

"Oh," John acknowledged the guys on stage. "I know those fellas", he mumbled. He had seen them before, he wasn't impressed by them back then. "Queen, right? It's kind of a funny name... They're your mates, right?", she nodded. "I don't think this is a good idea...".

"Don't be a chicken!", she said, frowning. He glanced at her, annoyed.

"Audrey...", he sighed while clutching his bass over his chest, not insecure about his skills but about the band in general.

"You didn't even try yet, for fucks sake", she was annoyed. "You won't know if it will work out until you're there and you hear if you sound well together", Audrey started to work her words to convince him but someone had interrupted the conversation.
