The sudden heatwave that has hit London wasn't pleasing at all.

Audrey sighed loudly as one hand was cupping her chin while she looked through the window that gave sight to the small backyard. The neighbor's grandchildren were visiting, and they were sitting and playing with water in a small improvised pool. Two kids were laughing loudly and tossing water at each other.

A smile couldn't be contained as she remembered the summer days with her dearest cousin.

John was at their hometown now. He had taken Veronica with him for the weekend as both of them were enjoying their free time this summer. He was working in an electronics store, and his boss was kind enough to let him free one weekend.

Audrey was sure that her aunt, uncle, and little cousin would be delighted with Veronica's sheer and kind presence. A pang of jealousy hit her chest when she looked at the hour and felt lonelier than ever.

Sure, Freddie had let her know that Mary and himself would also be spending their weekend at Mary's home - somewhere in London.

She recalled his excitement at meeting him, and also, she had briefly listened to him say that the man was deaf mute. He also said how interest that seemed to be to him as he had never met someone like that before.

"I've got to make a good impression, Aud... after all, I think that this time... it is definite", he had told her with a shy smile while they were eyeing the stall he and Roger shared. She couldn't contain her surprise at his words.

"Freddie... that's amazing!", she had said while smiling with fondness at him as he seemed to dismiss the topic by making a few mannerisms with his hands.

And the curly hair man that she had adopted as her tall friend, Brian, had severely told her that he would be busy; not only that weekend but the whole week. He had said something about a job and homework. He was serious the whole time, but again, when wasn't he?

"I'm sorry I won't be able to look after you, but my mentor has strictly told me to read these books by the end of the week to get myself going with my pending papers-", and then he pointed at the pile of books over his table. And boy, it was tall... not as much as him, but enough to make Audrey feel his pain.

"I'm sorry you won't get to enjoy some free time... but good luck, I guess... Bri", she said with a half smile, looking at his eyes that pleaded to be killed - but he was already dead inside with the massive amount of work that had to be done.

Thinking about how boring her day was when she had nothing to do - not even work on a lazy Sunday afternoon - her thoughts were interrupted by the ringing bell of the telephone.

"Hello?", she spoke, not knowing who really it could be as she spoke with John earlier and nobody really ever calls.

"Oi Aud!", the familiar voice of Roger made her feel a sudden wave of happiness all over her body as she smiled. She didn't know what he was up to. "I thought you wouldn't be at your flat."

"Well, I am... and it's so fucking boring it sucks", she said while sitting on a comfy chair next to the receiver. "What are you up to? I assume that you're up to no good", she teased and he laughed.

"Bullocks!", he bursted in a small and short laugh. "I'm at my flat too, bored and lonely... everybody seems to be busy these days", he sighed and she pressed her lips shut and tight before answering.

"Yeah, I get that feeling... but didn't you have a hot date or something? It would be weird if you didn't", she teased again, but also she was genuinely as to why he would be alone and bored... but mostly alone.

"Feeling lazy today, I watched the news, read the papers and made a quick practice on the drums but I still feel bored", she could practically could imagine him shrugging and she giggled before sighing.
