June came by, and Audrey was holding her guitar and strumming it along some chords she found interesting.
"Come with me, my love... to the sea, the sea of love... I wanna tell you how much I love you", her voice was filling her flat as she touched while staring at the window longingly. "Do you remember, when we met? That's the day I knew you were my pair", the ocean eyes appeared in her thoughts, his flashing smile and him pulling his hair out of his face. "I wanna tell you how much I love you", it felt as if something was burning inside of her. But she wasn't sure if it was love at all. She just felt like singing it. "Come with me, my love... to the sea, the sea of love... I wanna tell you how much I love you".
Her voice echo was the only sound she heard, and she felt her heart dropping. What a shitty birthday. I was thinking of some bloke that didn't give a damn about women's feelings and only cared to satisfy himself. Yet, she was singing something that resembled a love song. She didn't love him. But he was currently on her mind as she stopped strumming the guitar.
Audrey's thoughts were interrupted by the ringing doorbell.
She went downstairs and found Freddie and Mary smiling widely at her. "Happy birthday, darling!", then she saw the rest of the band behind them.
She wished she could be as excited as her friends were. She once again pretended she was happy on such an unhappy day and hugged them all as they went in one by one, with presents on their hands.
Even Roger was there, but with another girl in his arms. His eyes were bloodshot, and something seemed very off in him, but she didn't say anything as he kissed her cheek with affection and let them in.
"We heard you singing, actually we were down there for a while but didn't wanted to interrupt you since it was such a beautiful song", Chrissy said excitedly as she was cleaning the table for them to sit on there.
"Oh, so you heard...", she wasn't excited at all, but she still looked at Roger, who was now playing with the girl's blonde hair, and she was giggling like an idiot.
"It was a very beautiful song. Did you write it for someone?", Chrissy said while watching Audrey with admiration. Audrey stared at her feet while Roger looked at her way, waiting to hear an answer. She was very interested in the conversation.
"A magician never reveals their secrets", Audrey playfully said as Chrissy smiled and nodded.
"Well, to whoever that song was... it was beautiful, and that's exactly how love feels. "
Audrey raised her eyebrows and briefly looked at Roger, who now was looking somewhere else. "Love?", she asked in disbelief. "I've never felt it before."
"Oh, I'm sure you did... how else would you write such a moving love song?", Audrey knew Chrissy was oblivious of the thoughts that tortured her, but her words seemed to be clicking buttons she didn't know she had before.
Love song? - she thought, chuckling to herself. It wasn't like that at all, right?
The birthday went on with presents, good food, music and cake. Even though she wasn't excited at all, since she hated her birthday as much as she hated the twins; she smiled for the pictures that Chrissy wanted so bad to take. She took pictures with the band, and she laughed at the instant picture of the five of them looking like arrogant rockstars.
Freddie was having the time of his life as he sang all her favorite songs and danced with her, not slowing down, not even for a bit as he drank and smoked joyfully. Audrey knew he was also happy because of his recently announced engagement with Mary. She had never seen Freddie as happy as he was in that exact moment, as he kissed Mary's hands while now Brian was trying to make her dance.
