Freddie was playing the piano graciously as he always did, while Audrey was sitting beside him, humming some notes.
Their creative ideas were flooding in, and they were now doing a song that wasn't quite complete at all since the lyrics were missing. "I think we should imagine something precious", she said after a long thought as he was still playing the piano, and the result was a very operatic melody.
"What's precious to you, darling?", he asked while stopping playing. She turned a bit to see him and smiled weakly.
She couldn't believe that she was about to say it.
"That I found love", she said with pure honestly in her voice, taking Freddie a back.
"You mean-?"
"Yes", she was so sure about it that it made Freddie smile, Roger had changed a lot since they started going out officially, and he was happy for them. "Even though I'm in love, I'm afraid he'd hurt me", she said with a sad smile. "I just wish I could trust him..."
"You know, I have the love of my life too-and sometimes is frighteningly beautiful", Freddie changed the topic, trying to soothe her thoughts while playing the piano again. "Love of my life...", the words were left in the air for a second until she sneaked her voice in.
"You've hurt me... you've broken my heart, and now you leave me", she sang in her usual sweet voice that made Freddie grin.
"That's it!", he said, thrilled. "Keep going-"
"Love of my life, can't you see? Bring it back, bring it back", she seemed disheartened as she was singing with such longing. "Don't take it away from me, because you don't know", that part made him have goosebumps all over as she sang with pain. "What it means to me..."
Freddie patted her back as he was thrilled by the sudden creativity outburst she had. She was inspired by the pain she once had and how she was afraid it would happen all over again. He was very proud of her, the way she easily let her feelings come out.
They completed the song that day, with both of them talking about the people they love and how they would love to spend the rest of their lives with them. They ended smoking and drinking as they were in cloud nine, thinking about how their lives would be in the upcoming years.
"I'll be a fucking rockstar", he said after she took a drag and laughed.
"You already are, sir Freddie Mercury", she said as if she was in front of some royalty family member and even bowed jokingly. "Remember that first song you recorded? What was it? Goin' Back by Carole King, right?"
"Yes, it is a beautiful song", he said while smiling.
"Whenever I listen to it, it makes me cry - I love it", she confessed, making Freddie chuckle.
"How many years have been since we met? Five, six?", he asked while staring at the wall as if he had remembered something precious. "Anyways, fuck my life if I didn't meet you that day and then that day at the record store-"
"The day you read my diary and sang The Moon Song!", she completed his sentence and now they were laughing softly.
"I really appreciate that you had stayed by our side even if there are shitty people around us", he raised an eyebrow and Audrey sighed.
"Mary told you, right?", she frowned a bit, but she couldn't be upset with Mary. She was only worried for her, after all. Freddie was an important person in their lives, he was always there for them.
"Of course she would tell me, she's the love of my life! That's the whole point of this song!", he laughed as he pointed the paper that was over the grand piano. "I wish you could tell me when things like these happen..."
