"Ohh, swinging in the edge of the end -- we reach for each other, but can't go far, we long for each other, but I hate your guts -- I'm so in love it's making me crazy", Audrey sang for Freddie as they were alone in his hotel room.
They had arrived in New York two days ago, and it was going to be the third night of the four nights they would be there. She had already fallen in love with the city and all that was in it. Paul told them they would be hanging around there for two days after the last show there, and she was excited to do some sightseeing.
But now, she was singing in front of her best friend as she strummed the guitar.
"Don't make any promises you can't keep-- I will believe in any words you say", she closed her eyes, avoiding Freddie's intense stare over her as she sang. "I know nothing about love, yet here I am-- and I just want to give it all to you", she strummed violently as she had almost no inspiration at all. She felt dry.
"It's okay, love...", Freddie cooed as she felt her shoulders fall in rendition.
She already has forgiven Roger. But she wasn't feeling well while on tour, even though she fell in love with America, something felt odd in her chest. She felt sick and nauseous, and the anxiety wasn't going away. It felt like something clung to her chest whenever she thought of anything.
"I think I should go back home", she mumbled, but she knew she wanted to stay.
"No, no, no, no--"
"I'm lying, I want to stay... but things haven't been easy", she looked straight into his eyes.
"Is there anything in particular that bothers you?", Freddie asked with his brows raised.
She cleared her throat as she put her guitar aside. Then, she sat closely to Freddie and blinked a few times. "Well... Roger has been... you know...", she raised her brows.
"I don't have superpowers, Audrey, tell me with words", he rolled his eyes at her. She then sighed and sat even closer to Freddie.
"His sexual drive is making me crazy... the other night, we used at least three condoms until he asked me if he could finish inside me", she mumbled a bit embarrassed as Freddie choked a laugh. "I said yes, since I was also on the pill, but I also feel... weird, you know? Like, pregnant-like sick", she admitted, making her friend almost fall off the bed.
"YOU'RE PREGNANT?", he yelped, and she quickly put her hand over his mouth as to make him quiet.
"I'm not! I-I mean, I haven't made the test yet, but it's just that I think it's the pill that's making me sick, but I don't feel like telling Roger that - otherwise, he'd get all paranoid, that's why I'm telling you", she said and Freddie looked at her as if she had a third eye.
"And what do you want me to do?", he asked, blinking repeatedly.
"Well, I was wondering if you could call Dr. Monroe, as if you're the one that's feeling sick, so I can ask him about a good clinic nearby, he'd know better than anyone else. "
Freddie proceeded with the plan, much to the concern of the roadies that wondered if he was feeling sick. He was seen healthy, that's why nobody understood why the hell would Dr. Monroe even was at the hotel if there was no emergency.
However, nobody knew that Audrey Young was asking him professional advice and private consultation at a clinic in New York. She then discovered that, indeed, the pills a doctor gave her in London weren't doing so well in her organism. So, as she switched brands, she was feeling way better than before. If she had known before, she could've been feeling better and saved a lot of worrying from Roger.
He was taking her out the last night in New York. They went to a fancy private terrace in Manhattan and were drinking wine at the beautiful sight of the skyscrapers and lights. Pasta was served, and Roger learned that if it had cream sauce, Audrey is capable of eating the whole restaurant.
Roger was happy to see her happier than the other days, and when they brought the dessert, they ate together some ice cream and shared laughter.
"I'm so full and tired I could roll my way back to the hotel", Audrey said as they were taking the elevator to the restaurant's lobby. Roger laughed as he pulled her close by side-hugging her.
"Oh boy, here we go again", he mumbled as they exited the restaurant and saw a lot of paparazzis taking pictures of them.
"I'm just thankful I have makeup on", she joked as they hurried to the car that would be taking them back.
In the car, Audrey put her head on his shoulder as they held hands.
"Did you enjoy our date?", he asked her as he kissed her knuckles.
"The best we had", she simply answered as she yawned. "I'd appreciate it if you made me eat less, I'm a cow whenever we go out,"
"You're not a cow,"
"I eat like one,"
"No, you don't,"
"You're not the one that fights with the jeans you want to wear", she whined. "Promise me we'll eat salad on our next date,"
"We are not eating salad on our next date!", he shook his head as she sighed.
"Fine - then steak and salad!", she tried to negotiate.
"Don't try a Brian on me... it's you who's weak on food at the end, Audrey!"
And it was the truth, as in the next date they had, Audrey had forgotten to order the salad again and they ate and found out that food was connected right into human's hearts. Food made you happy, and food made you in a good mood. And even though Audrey regretted it every time, they always had such a good time with good food and their love floating all around them.
Paparazzis made it clear that they were the 'it' couple of the moment. Their fashion sense, their style, and the places they went to blew up in a few days. They were such a powerful couple that there weren't any magazines that didn't mention them.
"Roger Taylor and girlfriend Audrey Young amaze people with their stylish dates at the most trendy restaurants... I mean, we only go there because of the food, I don't remember choosing a place because of the stars it had or the reviews...", Audrey was telling Roger as she was bathing in the tub. He was shaving in the sink nearby as he listened carefully at her.
"People just want something to read, Aud", he said with a smile. "I can't believe they made a collage with all the outfits we wore at New York... that's kind of crazy. "
"It's not 'kind' of crazy. It is crazy!", she said as she closed the magazine, after reading that the fur coat she was wearing seemed to be legit... when it was clear, she always wore faux fur coats because of Brian's intervention in her wardrobe. He was a big animal fan, and she respected him so much that she always listened to his suggestions.
"I don't know... I love these pictures of us", he said, picking up the magazine before looking mischievously at Audrey. "Now, now... would you give me some space to get in?"
She rolled her eyes but moved her legs a bit after Roger dropped his towel to get into the tub, too.
