"Do you see anything different with Khanh at all? She kind of seems, off, in a way." Lee leaned over to Hei An.
The latter just shrugged and kept drinking his soda. It wasn't like he was paying attention to the party there were at in the first place. Hei An was more focused on watching Khanh dance in the throng of people. You never know what kind of trouble could follow her when Guang wasn't there to deal with it.
Said girl was dressed in a short sleeved T-shirt and shorts stopping just above mid thigh, her hair was hung low and in the dim lights of the party the glow sticks on her neck and wrists made her look like a 90's roller skater.
"You two have only known each other for like five days!" Hei An shouted over the music, which had a little bit too much of a bass boost to it. The boy he was addressing was Lee, the guy Guang hung out with all the time. He looked tanner, stronger, and was maybe just a bit taller than him, but that was besides the point. Lee was focused on watching Khanh dancing too.
"Your point?!" Lee called back, still not looking at his friend.
Hei An was going to get a headache, and if he were to be honest, those speakers could probably just end it all if he even took a step closer.
"Come with me!" Hei An put down his red solo cup and gestured to Lee, who had just then turned to the snack table and grabbed a sandwich. Lee looked up with wide eyes at Hei An, but followed nonetheless.
The two of them walked through the neon decorated hallway into the lobby of the big apartment home, just far enough that the music could be heard coming gently
"So what were you saying earlier?" Lee asked Hei An, who was rubbing his temples and plopped down next to the muscular boy.
He noticed that Lee was tense, his eyes shifting back to the hallway and then to him.
"Don't worry about Khanh, Guang texted me saying she's with her while we were leaving the room."
Lee nodded and let out a sigh before finally sitting
"You and Khanh have been friends for roughly a month. The finals are coming up and you don't even know where she wants to go." Hei An stated, his arms and legs crossed as he turned to face Lee more comfortably against the couch cushions.
"What do you care?" Lee glared, his jaw tensing and jutting out just a bit.
Hei An's eyebrows drew together just a bit in a 'are you kidding me look'.
"Khanh is in the same class as me, I've known her all year. You think I'd be less perceptive of my own classmates than you are of one person you've known for a month? Please."
"Has she ever told you what kind of person she is? Has she ever looked you in the eyes and smiled? Have you sparred with her?" Hei An kept an eyebrow raised at Lee as the latter's ears turned bright red.
Hei An smiled at Lee, who in that moment became much more approachable.
"You sound like you want to be more than just friends Lee," Hei An's voice didn't change tone, but the smile playing on his face poked fun at the boy next to him.
Lee was silent, but within seconds the two boys were laughing with tears in their eyes. Lee brushed a tear from his eye as Hei An patted his back.
"You've got me there Hei An." Lee's cheeks had brightened to being a pink, and it wasn't from the drink.
Hei An chuckled. Ever since Guang and him had started dating, he found the rest of the people around her to be very different from what he had previously branded. Lee being the main one.
