I get back home from basketball practice and see my dad in the kitchen at the island.

"Hey dad!" I say hanging my keys up.

"Hey, can you come here?" I hear his voice say.

I walk in the kitchen and see he has papers in his hand. I noticed they're my college papers I've been hiding for the past few months.

"Wanna explain this?" He ask shaking it in the air.

I stood there speechless.

"I didn't even know.. you were in contact with other schools. Why would you hide this from me?" He ask.

"Because you want me to go to UCLA, but I'm starting to have my eyes on other schools." I tell him.

"I thought UCLA was the final decision." He asked me.

"I didn't sign the papers." I said smartly.

He sighs.

"Dad, I know you want me to go to UCLA, but you have to support me on this. I'm really having a hard time choosing and don't need this in my hands... and maybe my decision will UCLA. But right now.. i don't know." I tell him.

He nods his head.

"Of course I'm gonna support you. I was to focus of you following my own path. That I had to realize it's your dream.. not mines." He said.

"But you are in some way living your dream through me." I tell him.

"Absolutely!" He says as I laugh.

I hear a door open. I turn and see Melo.

"What's up, Russ?" He said dapping my dad up.

"Hey baby." Melo says as he comes behind me and kisses my cheek.

"Hey!" I say back to him.

"What are we talking about?" Melo asks wrapping his arms around my neck.

"We were just talking about how I just now found out Jaedyn is talking to other schools." My dad says.

"What!" Melo says.

My eyes widen. My dad looks at me and I shake my head. Melo sits beside me, so he can make eye contact.

"Jaedyn, you wanna tell me something?" Melo asks.

"Yeah I'm just gonna.. leave." My dad says as he leaves.

"Why didn't you tell me anything?" He asks.

"I didn't want to! You were so happy with me going to UCLA or USC." I tell him.

"But I thought that was your final decision?" Melo asks. 

"I didn't sign the papers." I say once again.

He sighs and shakes his head.

"Hey remember the promise we made. 'We'll support each other for whatever decision we make for our dreams'." I tell him.

"I know I just.. don't wanna be separated from you." He says sadly.

"We can't get in between our dreams." I tell him.

"Jaedyn.. you are my dream!" He says raising his voice a little.

"Stop." I say feeling guilty.

"I want you to be by my side at basketball games. I want to marry you. I want you to have my kids. I wanna get a house with you. Jaedyn, I wanna spend the rest of my life with you!" He says.

"..and we can... just not right now." I tell him.

He sighs and rubs his eyes.

I feel bad now because my decision can make or break our relationship.

"C'mere." He says softly.

We hug and I sigh of relief. We pull out the hug. Melo wraps his hand around my waist.

"I'm gonna always support you. Whatever decision you make I'm always gonna support you... and I'm your still gonna be mine." He says.

I chuckle.

"But just know.. I wanna be with you Jae. I want you to spend the rest of your life with me." He says.

I nod and hug him again.

"I love you." I say in the hug.

"I love you more."
