Jackson crossed the room and stood behind me while Matt knelt down in front of Derek, who was paralyzed on the floor.
"This is the one controlling him? This kid?" Derek asked from the floor.
"Well, Derek, not everyone's lucky enough to be a big, bad werewolf." His anger toward Derek was more personal and I could feel it, but I didn't know why it would be—he didn't know Derek.
"Oh, yeah, that's right," Matt mused sarcastically, standing back up to look at us. "I've learned a few things lately. Werewolves, hunters, Kanimas. It's like a freakin' Halloween party every full moon. Except for you, Stiles. What do you turn into?"
"Abominable snowman. But, uh, it's more of, like, a wintertime thing, you know, seasonal."
Matt glared and then bobbed his head. Before I could stop it, Jackson sliced the back of Stiles' neck and my brother crumbled to the ground.
"Bitch," he slurred on his way down.
I snarled and tried to lunge for Matt but Jackson grabbed my shoulder and pulled me away, wagging his other hand in Scott's face to warn him from doing anything.
Derek grunted when Stiles fell on top of him and Jackson shoved me into the threshold of my dad's office.
"Get him off of me," Derek grunted.
"Oh, I don't know, Derek," Matt boasted. "I think you two make a much better pair than you and Sarah."
Scott turned to look at me with widened eyes but Jackson held me back still. I could feel my brother get confused, too, but I didn't say anything.
"It must kinda suck, though, to have all that power taken away from you with just a little cut to the back of the neck," Matt taunted simply. "I bet you're not used to feeling this helpless."
"Still got some teeth," Derek grumbled. "Why don't you get down here a little closer, huh? We'll see how helpless I am."
"Yeah, bitch," Stiles huffed.
Matt turned to Jackson and narrowed his eyes. In turn, Jackson's hand grabbed my throat, cutting off my air supply. I gasped for air and tried to claw Jackson's hand off.
He stepped to the side but didn't let me go while Matt got into my face.
"Are you really in love this guy?" he taunted, truly baffled. "C'mon, Sarah. You're too good for him."
"You don't know anything," I gasped.
He chuckled. "I know more than you think."
Jackson's hand tightened around my throat and I struggled to catch my breath.
