Derek drove us to halfway to meet with Scott and Isaac, who had Jackson. And Chris Argent was giving them the ride.
Apparently, he finally figured out that his father was a psychopath—just like Peter Hale.
We split up just in case it was a trap, but Derek and I were going to meet Scott and Isaac. I just happened to be there before Derek was.
I stood in the middle of the road with my arms crossed over my chest as the maroon Tahoe pulled up in the alleyway.
The SUV shut off and three different doors opened as they climbed out. I met Chris' gaze and expected malice or something, but he just looked at me sympathetically—apologetically.
Scott looked behind him as Isaac made a comment about Jackson not moving, but Chris didn't take his eyes off of me.
"Sarah, it's good to see you again."
"Is it?" I snarked. "Last time I saw you, your psychotic father tried to kill me and you didn't do anything."
"Sarah, you violated—"
My blue eyes glowed and I growled a warning, shutting him up. "You don't have to tell me. I know what I did."
Chris sighed and changed the topic before the two teenagers started asking more questions.
"Where's Derek?"
I turned around and Derek was already running on all fours down the alley toward the rest of us. When he was close enough, he did a flip through the air.
I stepped off to the side while he landed in front of me on his feet, one hand on the ground. Slowly, he stood up and I could tell he was eyeing Chris as I walked up to stand beside him.
"I'm here for Jackson," Chris told Derek. "Not you or Sarah."
"Somehow, I don't find that very comforting," Derek sassed. Then he looked over at the two betas standing with Chris' vehicle. "Get him inside."
Chris, Scott, and Isaac got back into the Tahoe and Derek and I walked into the iron works building. Peter was hiding somewhere in the building, waiting for the moment when he had to kill Jackson.
I didn't like the agonizing pain the ass teenager, but even I had to admit that I wasn't a fan of the plan to kill him. He was self-centered and selfish, that was sure, but he didn't deserve to die over something he doesn't realize he's doing.
Once we were in the iron works and Chris parked his car, Scott and Isaac pulled out the body bag that Jackson was in.
They laid it on the ground and then the five of us circled around the bag.
"Where are they?" Scott asked with his eyes wide.
"Who?" Derek questioned back.
"Peter and Lydia."
