"The championship game is tonight. And I'm in hiding because a psychopath hunter wants me dead."

To say that I was frustrated was an understatement.

After the night we had at the police station, I had no other choice but to go into hiding with Derek and his pack.

Before Derek and I overheard a little conversation between Gerard and Scott, I had my own run-in with Gerard when Derek was fighting with the kanima. And he tried to kill me.

I wasn't too happy with Scott deceiving Derek—and me, for that matter—by basically working with Gerard. But I had a feeling that it wasn't Scott's idea or what he wanted to do.

I just wish he had told me about Gerard, if he threatened him or not.

"Well, I'm so sorry you're stuck here with me."

I rolled my eyes and snorted at his sarcasm. He turned to look at me with a small smile on his face. He leaned back against an old table in the middle of the living room and I closed the book in my hands.

After the police station, Derek took me home to my house. I grabbed a few things—like clothes and A Game of Thrones. I had to leave a note for my dad and brother, but it was hard to figure out what to say.

I didn't say I was leaving town, though. I didn't want them to think that I just up and left like I had before.

In a nutshell, I just told him that after the incident at the police station, I had to get away for a while to clear my head after something Matt told me so I would be staying with a friend.

It was partially true—that I needed to clear my head after what Matt said to me. But it was also because I had to protect myself and them. If I stayed and Gerard got to me, he'd probably hurt Stiles and my dad to get me to stand down.

"That's not what I meant," I said to him. "And you know it."

He chuckled and crossed his arms over his chest.

"What did your dad say?"

I twisted my body on the couch I was sitting on and I put my feet on the floor, sitting forward and bracing my hands on the edge of the cushions.

Even though I was gone, I knew that the Argent's couldn't track my phone. I disabled the GPS on it just in case and I let my dad know in my letter that he could call me if there was an emergency.

He called, not for an emergency, but he wanted to make sure I was okay.

I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.

"Well, the good news is that he got his badge back," I started.

There was more but I thought starting with happier news would lessen the weight of what I was going to tell Derek next.
