Emotionless, I stood in front of the small mirror in my room  and tied my tie. Tucking it under my pinafore, I took a deep breath and prepared myself for the day ahead. Walking slowly through the halls, I hummed the song I'd been learning on my violin yesterday. The ringing of Mom's bell, caused me to speed up, nearly bumping into Five as he entered the dining room. He turned around with a small smirk,

"Carefull Vanya, one day you might get badly hurt."

Blushing, I followed him into the dining room and sat down when our "Father" commanded us to. Observing, Luther and Allison's small smiles from across the table, I ate small bites. Five stabbed the table harshly with his knife, pulling me out of my trance. Each word he spat at our father pained me. Hoping he might listen to me, I shook my head. Ignoring me and my father he ran out onto the street. Waiting moments, I realised he would never come back if he left. Before I knew what I was doing, I heard the scraping of my chair and the yells of my father.

"Seven! Come back this instant!"

Pushing open the glass doors, I ran with all my might towards my only friend in this world.

"Five, please come back! Five!" I yelled as I ran towards him. He slowly turned to me, a confused frown on his face, I saw him getting ready to jump. "No Five!" I cried out , just as he was about to leave, I tripped and my face collided with the curb. I felt warm spreading across my, and the whoosh of Five's jumps. A strong arm pulled me to my feet.

"Vanya? Can you hear me?" Five panicked.

"Five, I thought you left," I whispered as I wrapped my arms around his neck. His arm snaked around my waist as he jumped us back to the house. I wobbled, leaning on him for support as the light slowly faded away.

"Mom! Vanya's hurt, please help!" Five's pleas echoed in my ears as I drifted into the darkness.

Bright lights pulled my eyes open, I scanned the room searching for Five. He sat at the end of my bed scribbling in a small notebook.

"What happened?" I asked with a hoarse voice. Five's attention snapped to me when he heard my voice.

"Well Vanya, you ran out after me, and tripped over an uneven pavement and cracked your head open. Not your smartest move, to say the least," he said, with a trace of anger in his voice.

"I'm sorry Five, I didn't mean to upset you. I just couldn't let you leave." I muttered, hiding behind my fringe. Five brought his hand under my chin and pushed it up, so our eyes met.

"Vanya. I'm not angry, I just don't understand, why would you risk Father's anger just to stop me from time travelling. It doesn't make sense." He said, searching my eyes for answers.

"I couldn't let you leave because... because you're my only friend in the world and I didn't know what I would do without you, I didn't want to have to know what I would do without you. I'm sorry Five, I shouldn't have stopped you for such selfish reasons." I replied, avoiding eye contact with him, I knew it was stupid of me to think he would stay just for me. I'm ordinary, and he's extrordinary.

"Don't apologise to me," He firmly said to me, "Please, don't apologise." When I tried to stand up, I immediatly felt like someone had put my brain in a tornado. Five rushed behind me and settled me back on to the bed. "You have to stay here for a few more days, Mom will be up soon with your breakfast. Do you want me to stay with you?" I gave a small nod and smile in reply. He sat back down, but this time closer to me, with his back resting on the wall. I watched him with fascination until a small knock on the door snapped me out of my trance. Five jumped to open the door and then jumped back to his seating place in an instant. Mom came in with a smile on her face and a tray laden with blueberry pancakes and orange juice.

"Goodmorning Vanya, I brought your favourite. Perhaps, today we could decorate your room as you may have to stay in here a few days more." She said with a comforting smile as she put the tray down on my thighs.

"Thank you Mom" I replied with a small smile as I began to eat.

A blaring alarm brought my attention away from the book Five had brought for me from the library. This alarm was louder from the breakfast and waking up alarms. This alarm I hated with a passion. This alarm meant I was alone once more, left to worry and learn trivial subjects while my siblings fought to protect others. I know I shouldn't be jealous of the danger they were in, but at least they get to be together and they get to be important heroes, while I remain an insignificant nuisance. Closing my eyes, I waited for to hear Five teleport back to his room and way to danger. Once I heard the tell tale whoosh, I opened my eyes and finished reading. Hearing the pattering of feet oustide, I pulled my self up and opened my door. A spectator to their extordinary lifes. I grabbed Five's wrist as he ran past. Suprised he turned to face me leaning on the door frame, He steadied me with a hand on my waist.

"Don't get hurt." I whispered, with a serious but meek tone. He smirked and replied with a chuckle.

"I won't, I promise." he quickly hurried me back to my bed then dissapeared with a small wave. Exhaling, I picked up my violin and began to play a somber tune. I closed my eyes and played by memory, only opening them when I heard a small clap from Mom. She had placed a jug full of flowers beside my bed and some candles on my dresser. Continuing to play, I watched as she tucked a blanket onto my bed and extra pillows. She smiled and sat down next to me to listen. All my emotions seeped out of me through the music, calming me to an extent. But I still couldn't ignore the constant danger my family was in.
