Shuffling uncomfortably in my seat, a woman named Sara dusted my face with makeup and hairsprayed my loose, twisting curls into place.
"Alright Miss, in five minutes, the show will begin. Follow me to the set" She said kindly handing me a mirror to see my face. Nodding, I followed her to set. Neither me or Allison had seen the boys yet. Allison seem unfazed by them but I gaped at Five's new look. His hair was gelled into soft spikes and he wore a blue and white checkered shirt with the first few buttons undone and a grey blazer with matching grey trousers. Once he saw me staring intently, he blushed and dashed over to me.
"Hey" He murmered softly holding both of my hands. "You look..."
"You too" I laughed ignoring the curious stares of the hosts.
"Um well hey guys!" The female host (Leila) announced with her bright but not all real smile. "We figured you could sit in number order? So Number One would be next to Alex, if you're wondering the Alex is the other host. To my understanding you don't watch TV..." She gestured to the large semi-circular sofa. We sat down in our order but Leila still seemed reluctant. "Why don't you choose a person to sit next to? One that would make you feel more comfortable." Klaus threw his arms around Ben's and Diego's shoulders, Luther moved towards Allison and Five grabbed my hand again. Allison looked over at me and rolled her eyes at Luther, causing me to stifle a giggle. We were sat in the order of: Luther, Allison, myself, Five, Ben, Klaus, Diego.
"5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Hello and Welcome, today we have the Umbrella Academy. Please introduce yourself."
"Hi I'm Luther Hargreeves, also known as Number One or Space Boy"
"Hey I'm Allison, Number Three or the Rumour"
"I'm Vanya, Seven, The white violin" I said quiety, hiding behind my bangs.
"Number Five or the boy but people call me Five"
"Ben Hargreeves and I guess people call me the horror but please don't. Also Number Six"
"Heyyyy I'm Klauuss and I'm Four and the Seance which is a stupid name."
"D-Diego, Number Three and the K-Kraken"
"Okay, first question: What are your powers exactly? I'm sure the people watching are dying to know." Alex said with a cheesy smile, I know I should be repulsed because he's treating us like young children but it's some what comforting underneath these harsh lights and glaring cameras. "Luther do you want to go first?" Luther nodded in response,
"I have super strength, pretty much it but we've all been trained to a similar level of hand to hand combat and any other sort of skills we might need. Apart from Seven" he said with slight indignation towards me. Alex gestured towards Allison to go next.
"When I say 'I heard a rumour' followed by an action, they complete it."
"I convert sound waves into energy or vibrations"
"I'll try to explain it a simply as I can so you can understand it, I transport myself through space and occasionally time"
"I have tentacles and I can kind of control when they leave my body." Ben looked down at his stomach as he said that as if he was afraid of offending them. He nervously turned to Klaus, silently begging him to take the attention away from him.
"It's pretty simple, I see the dead. Not very usefull in the situations we're usually in. Maybe if we were in a haunted hospital trying to find an evil doctor but other than that a pretty stupid and, pardon the pun, haunting power." He performed dramatically causing Luther to roll his eyes but Allison to giggle in her enchanting way.
"I can curve objects that I throw and throw them to near-perfect accuracy." Diego said interrupted Allison's quiet laughter and caused more silence, "Sorry didn't want to have to just wait awkwardly but I successfully made it more awkward..."
"Next Question..." Leila said slowly making weird eye contact with the camera, "Vanya" My head snapped up at my name. "Until now we didn't even know you exsisted, why?"
"Uhm, I guess our guardian didn't want you to know" I said nervously, I knew this would anger him but I didn't know what he would do about it.
"Do you know why that would be?" Alex asked, ignoring the cards on his laps making uncomfortable eye contact with me.
"I'm sorry but I don't really know, I assumed he just thought I was too dangerous and that I would hurt the others..." Five tapped my hand in assurance, not wanting to show too much affection in public.
"So how did you find out about your powers? Surely you must have accidentally used them." Shaking my head in response, I looked to Five for help.
"We broke into his office and she found out about her powers in his notebook, she had been taking what she thought was anxiety medication that suppressed her emotions but they were to prevent her powers from being used and they also did have some negative affects on her, often causing her to seem a bit like a robot. If your wondering, when she was young she was accepted as part of the group but because of some difficult circumstances our father locked her up in a soundproof cage when she was four and forced Allison into rumour her into thinking she was ordinary." Five said with anger seeping through his voice,
"Wait what?" Allison asked in disbelief from next to me, "Did I really do that?" I nodded and put my head down. "I'm so sorry Vanya. I wish I never did that..."
Putting my head black down I fiddled with the hem of my dress and tried to ignore the rest of the interview.
"So what's going on between you two?" Leila said with a curious smirk, "Vanya? Five?"
Turning to Five for an answer I kept staring at my skirt,
"Well, what are you suggesting?" I whispered back trying not to anger them.
"I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say, I've noticed that there is some sort of bond of special relationship between you"
"He's my bestfriend. And was the only person who gave me the time of day for the 10 years of my life, so I'm going to have a bond with him. Even if I had any idea what's going on which I don't really, I can assure you, you wouldn't be the first to know" I said with newfound confidence. After some silence I realised how it must have sounded, "So sorry, didn't mean to sound so passive aggressive this is more than kind of weird to me"
Five grabbed my hand that lay down at my side and interlocked our fingers to comfort me. Blushing and smiling we caused raised eyebrows from the hosts but the others dismissed it as normal which also surprised the hosts.
But I didn't care who knew about whatever it was me and Five were.
