A crash echoed through the empty halls, a shatter followed soon after, rousing me from my sleep. I scrambled out of bed and peeked my head around the door, there was nothing. In the distance you could hear angry whispering from the foyer. Walking as quietly as I could, I made my way down to wear the noise was coming from. A smashed window, small droplets of blood and a homemade domino mask. In the dining room, a small boy about our age sat holding a heavy bat in his hands. I knew I couldn't kill him and that alerting the others meant his death and that he might leave or attack me.

"Hello?" I said cautiosly as I crept aound the corner into the room,

"You're Vanya." He said with a devious smile,

"Yes, that's me. What's your name?" I replied nervously,

"Harold, I'm here to kill Reginald Hargreeves"

"You know I can't let you do that. Sorry Harold"

"It's okay, I'll do it anyway."

"NO. You won't" I said calmy as I approached him, snatching the bat out of his hand and throwing it away, in an effort to wake up someone else. Grabbing his elbows and twisting his arms behind his back I wrestled him to the ground and held him down softly with my knee placed on his back and my hands around his wrists. After a couple seconds or him struggling, I let him up to his feet and began to walk upstairs.

"Five? Someone broke into the house, can you help me?"

"What the hell Vanya? Why did you bring him in here?" Flinching at Five's anger I started to explain,

"Harold here said he wanted to kill Hargreeves so I'm not going to bring him straight to him. I was hoping you could get him." Five nodded and was off in a flash,

"Let me go Vanya, you understand what it's like to be ordinary and ignored. I'm just like you"

"He's done much worse to me than whatever it is he's done to you and I wouldn't break into his house and try to kill him. Especially in a house with six, I mean seven, superpowered and trained kids that have to protect him."

"You don't have to protect him, he's not your dad."

"Even so I'm not leaving my family"

"They're not you family, they don't love you or care about you. People like them don't give a shit about people like us. You should know that by now. They only pretend so you don't kill them, all they care about is themselves and that's why they need to die. All of them...

But you. Weak, ordinary, useless Vanya. You can stay alive, your not important enough to die."

"Stop" I whispered as tears rolled down my face,

"You can't stop me, your powerless and stupid I don't know why they even let you join. They should have just left you"

"STOP" I screamed at the top of my lungs. Books flew off the shelves and began to circle around me like a tornado. My eyes clouded over, the last thing I saw was Five's books pummelling into Harold.

~
"Vanya! Stop, Please!" Allison yelled, she ran into the room and tackled me to the ground then  shook my shoulders. "Stop it this isn't you!"

Her hazelnut ringlets of hair dusted my arms as she leant over me, the tears continued to stream down my cheeks as I reached up and hugged her close to me. She was stiff and suprised at first but eventually gave into it, patting my head and rubbing my back and whispering soothing words. It wasn't until a whimpering from Harold was heard that she yelled for Luther. He burst in and scooped up Harold.

"What are you going to do to him? Please take him to Mom or a hospital, it's my fault"

"Vanya this isn't the time for sympathy, he broke into our house!" He shouted back,

"Luther. Just do it" Allison sternly commanded him. Immediatly nodding and turning out of the door, he left. HIs heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway as Allison slowly pushed me into Five's bed. "I'll get Five, it's okay Vanya" She pulled the blanket over me and slowly closed the door.

~

"Van?"

"Five?" I whispered as I lifted my head above the covers, "I could have killed him, I lost control, Is dad mad? Oh no he's going to kick me out make me take my mediaction again. Or maybe he'll send me to a boarding school. Five, please don't let him-"

"Vanya" He said, grabbing my shoulders and twisting them to face him. "It's okay. The boy is going to be reported to the police and probably given back to his parents. Dad is probably glad you were there to diffuse the situation."

"Five, I'm so sorry about your books. I can save up to buy you new once if any were ruined." I wept for what seemed like the millionth time today.

"Vanya, It's okay. Please don't worry, let's just go to sleep and we can talk about it tomorrow." He got in beside me and I lay my head onto his chest. He stroked my hair and hugged me to his chest until I drifted off into a haunting nighmare filled sleep. Harold's lifeless body swirledd around my head like the books had previously. The taunts echoed and ringed continously creating a symphony of manufactured and manipulative lies that would forever stain my memory.
