My door slammed abruptly, I sat up, expecting to see Five back from his mission, instead it was Ben.

"Five, hurt" he shouted as he stood in the door frame, out of breathe from running up the stairs. Panic coursing through me, I ignored Ben's protests and pushed past him. He caught up with me, running along side me. "There was a holdup at a bank, some tried were going to shoot Klaus and he jumped to him and pushed him out the way but got shot in the arm." He explained as I hobbled down the stairs to the medical room. I burst in and saw Five lying down on the table, his face contorted in pain as Mom removed the bullet. Pogo's head turned to me.

"Miss Vanya, you can't be here, you're not well enough." He tried to hurry me out but instead I ran to grab Five's hand. Pogo gave an exasperated sigh and continued to help Mom. I ignored the confused stares of my other adopted siblings who were standing in the door frame.

"Number Seven!" My Father's voice boomed from across the room, "What on earth are you doing here?"

"I-I just, I thought." I stuttered trying to explain.

"Leave her alone," Five muttered "Is she not allowed to be caring and compassionate? Or do you only care about powers? I want her here and she's staying." Smiling triumphantly, I ignored the outraged frown from my father and Klaus' snickering from behind his hand. I gave a small giggle and soon all of us kids were laughing and my father was storming out to his office.

"You broke your promise." I whispered into Five's ear.

"Really Vanya?" He laughed in response, "That's your main concern."

"Not my main concern, but close second," I smirked as he turned to face me. The broad smile on his face juxtaposed his situation. "What a pair we are, two invalids."

"I beg your pardon, I am not an invalid." He replied with false outrage. "Even if I was one, at least I don't look like an idiot with a huge bandage on my head." Gasping, I punched his good arm. He yelped in response, and gave a small glare. His hand clasped mine strongly, as Mom sewed the last stitch in to his arm. "Bandage or not, you're very distracting." He said through gritted teeth.

"Goodness, was that a compliment? Wow, you must be in a lot of pain." I responded.

"Shut up" He whispered softly. In a matter of seconds, Mom and Pogo where helping him up the stairs to his room with me stumbling behind them. After he had settled into his bed, I prepared myself to leave. "Will you read to me?" He whispered timidly as I balanced myself in the door frame. Smiling, I left to get my a book.

"Where do you want me to sit?" I asked cautiously, he shuffled over and patted the bed beside him. Shuffling in beside him, I sat up and began to read: "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."

A knock at the door woke me up, blinking I saw Mom standing at the door with a worried expression on her face. Realising how this might have looked, I sat up straight. My head had been resting on his shoulder, the book open on my lap.

"I was just reading to him." I chattered quickly as she put down the food.

"Wake up Five please," She replied, smiling nonchalantly. Gently tapping on his shoulder, he groaned and turned over. "Five, you must wake up, it's time for dinner." Five slowly sat up rubbing his eyes. "Now, Vanya are you going to be eating here or should I put your tray in your room?" Turning to me, Five raised an eyebrow as if to challenge me. I shook my head.

"I should probably eat in my own room, goodnight Five." I replied shyly as I walked slowly out. If he was at all dissapointed he didn't say anything. The door closed softly and the tapping of Mom's shoes followed me to my room.

"Goodnight Vanya, tomorrow morning your lessons shall resume at your father's request." She smiled as she closed the door.

"Mom? Did I do something wrong?" I asked sheepishly needing reassurance.

"Why would you think that?" She inquired, sitting on the end of my bed.

"Dad seemed upset when I visited Five, and you seemed different when I was reading to Five too." I explained, fiddling with my fingers.

"You did nothing wrong, it just suprised me and I'm sure Mr Hargreeves was just concerned for you." She soothed as she began to leave. Unsuprisingly, it wasn't at all comforting. Surely there's nothing wrong with me comforting him, unless it's more than that.  It can't be more than that, he's my brother and my only friend.  But I think that I might wish it could be more than that. I may not be a genius like Five, but I know this will never be allowed, so I can't do anymore than wish.
