As the breakfast alarm sounded,  I attempted to smooth out my dishevelled bed head. I  could barely do anything as my arm had to rest in a sling. Vanya's head pooped round the door, my shirt was open and my tie lay on the bed, I'd given up hope on getting to breakfast on time.

"Do you need any help?" She asked as she walked in and stood infront of me, not wanting to concede to defeat, I tried a couple more times but eventually let her. She comforted me knowing I was frustrated and embarrased. I shouldn't need help. Her nimble fingers quickly buttoned the shirt and tied the tie. I indulged in her fingers occasionally brushing my skin and how close her face was to mine. I could have kissed her if I moved a few centimetres forward.

"Thank you Vanya." I whispered, afraid to be percieved as weak. I knew she would never try to intentionally hurt me but that insecurity ran deep. Would I ever be enough for them? Realization flashed across her face as she gently grabbed my hand and we ran to breakfast together and into the dining room. She dropped my hand as she ran to her chair.

Pride filled me as she confronted our father and asked to train. I watched her in admiration, she was changing, she was more confident but she was still my Vanya. Our bubble of pleasantry burst as he told her the terms. His dissmissive not caused me to shoot out, closely followed by Vanya. He was trying to change her into an emotionless robot, take her away from me and make her his little servant girl again and I wouldn't stand for it. She pulled me back to her and smiled at me.

"Your Vanya?"

Almist immediatly I realised my mistake and began to babble an explanation. She rendered me silent by wrapping her arms around my neck and hugging me tightly. Accomplished and assured of her safety I jumped to my room to grab my notebook and then walked to the courtyard, entering minutes after them. Mom stood by me and I tried to keep up my uninterested facade as I watched over my notebook. I watched as Vanya decieved Klaus and ended up lying half on top of him. Feeling a hint of jealousy at their position, I first questioned my sanity and then willed her to win. Later she was walking over to me asking our "Mother" about her progress. I knew mother was suprised about her ability.

"I think I'll partner you with Luther next." Mother announced as she walked away. No, not that oaf. He could kill her. Trying to downplay my anxiety, I said:

"I don't know if I want you fighting him." Her silenced scared me, was she upset that I underestimated her. I had her estimated perfectly, she could beat Ben and Klaus if they weren't using their powers but Luther's ability wasn't one you could simply not use. My breath fluttered uncomfortably as she shuffled over to Luther. I saw her panic at his anger when she got a few good hits, I prepared myself to jump and intervene,  when I saw the punch clip the side of her head. Her face smashed onto the ground not dissimilar to the last time. I jumped and held her up, she was naively oblivious to the blood pouring down her face. She blacked out after dizzily apologising.

"YOU IMBECILE!" I screamed, rage fueled at Luther. "YOU HAVE SUPER STRENGTH AND YOU HIT YOUR UNEXPERIENCED, UNPOWERED SISTER AND OPENED THE STITCHES IN THE SIDE OF HER HEAD." Luther gaped at me, never having heard me shout like that as Allison dragged him away glaring at me as if his stupidity and illjudgement was some how my fault.  I cradled he rhead in my lap as Mom leant over to clean her face and wound before re-stitching and bandaging her head again. Allison was watching me from across the courtyard, she dragged Luther over. He offered to carry her but I ignored him and picked her up and jumped her to my room. He was not going anywhere near her anywhere time soon. I heard  a knock on Vanya's door and went to open it.

"I thought you'd be here." It was Allison, I raised and eyebrow and scanned her face.

"You don't care about Vanya, why are you here?" She flinched at my tone and opened her mouth to reply but shook her head instead.

"She's my sister of course I care."

"You have a shitty way of showing it." I retorted back, slamming the door. She pushed it back open, her eyes bore into mine.

"Five, I need to talk to you about something I saw. It's about you and Vanya, just hear me out." I nodded and stepped outside to join her. "I don't know if either of you know it yet. You like her and before you object, I understand. Me and Luther-"

"I know, you two aren't exactly conspicuous." I scoffed, ignoring me she continued.

"It's not weird, she's just your sister in legal terms and it's not like we're a real family this might as well just be a boarding school. You can't help who you love and it was going to happen, all of us here we've barely experienced anything outside this walls. Just consider it Five." She walked away back to her room.

"You can't help who you love." I whispered to myself as I went back into her room and sat in the position I found myself in a lot. Vanya couldn't seem to stop getting hurt. It was then I swore to myself to protect her forever.
