The car fit seven people, but now there were eight.
"Two of you will share a seat, nominate two people. Quickly." Father said impatiently, we had to leave very soon.
"I nominate Five and Seven." Klaus said with a snicker causing both me and Five to go red and glare at him. Father nodded, oblivious to Klaus' reasoning. We all climbed into the car, me and Five sat in the more spacious front seat together. Half sitting on his lap we remained silent until we arrived near the bank.
"Five, Seven you will hide amongst the hostages and help them escape. Everyone else, you will take out the men in the bank." Father commanded once we were out of the car. I held onto Five as he teleported us in. The hostages turned to us in shock when they saw us, Five gestured for them to remain quiet and pointed to the umbrella academy symbol on our outfits. Some nodded as I creeped towards the front of the crowd. There were two men standing with their backs to us and another two trying to open the vault. I attatcked and knocked the two men to the ground using the sound of my whistling. The other's made sure they were knocked out and that the other men were still inside the vault. Diego ran ahead of us and used helped Five break down the door, while I lead the hostages to the doors. Five and Diego lead them out while I returned to the vault with the others.
"Who's going in?" I whispered, before anyone could answer, some more people came out from another room in the bank. They saw us and immediatly began to shoot and scream at us. Pushing them behind me, I stretched the shield as far as I could. They ran out from behind the shield and back to a desk. The bullets were held above the shield, I had an idea but I didn't know if it would work. Worst case scenario I got shot by two different machine guns at a time and most likely died. Shoving the shield forwards, the bullets ricocheted off of me and into the men. Holding my hand over my mouth in shock, I watched them bleed.
"Oh my god, that was my fault... I killed them" I whimpered, Ben pulled me back away from them,
"It's okay you did what you had to, we all do. You need to calm down. It's going to be okay Vanya." He hugged me and patted me on the back, "We all understand how you're feeling" Allison and Klaus nodded, Luther was shuffling awkwardly and staring at the ground. Diego and Five were still making sure the hostages were okay. Trying to concentrate on anything other than my guilt, I heard a small crying from across the room. A small girl sat behind another desk,
"Hello?" I asked sympathetically. She looked up at me in panic, "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. I promise" She nodded. "Will you come with me?" I put out my hand near her's, she accepted it after moments of consideration. Tears still staining my face, I picked her up and carried her outside where a woman was shouting at a policewoman asking about her daughter.
"She was in there, I have to get her. Please let me back in" She weeped. Suddenly the press saw me,
"Another Umbrella Academy student has left the bank, holding a small child. But she's not Allison. Who is this mysterious girl?"
"Who are you?"
The little girl held her hand over her ears, I held her closer to me and ran her down to the woman.
"Excuse me m'am" I said with a small tap in her shouler, "Is this your daughter?" Turning to me, she saw the girl in my arms and her face broke into a huge smile. She furiously nodded and reached for her. Looking at the little girl for confirmation, I noticed her face mirrored the mothers. Handing her over, I smiled and walked back to Five. We all walked back into the building to see everyone still standing outside the vault.
"Vanya? Do you want to go in the vault, or should we send in Ben?" Allison asked, Ben's worrysome face pleaded me to not choose the latter. Taking a deep breathe, I strolled towards the doors and slid inside. I wasn't noticed for about 10 seconds until I coughed cockily. They turned in suprise and I knocked them back into the wall. After checking they were not conscious or alive, I left immediatly and prepared for the questions and confus on that awaited me outside. Five's hand squeezed mine in an attempt to comfort me. We walked outside together, camera's flashed and reporters screamed questions.
"Is this what you deal with all the time?" I whispered to Five,
"It's a little bit more extreme now because they want to know who you are, but this is what it was like the first time" He answered in a similar fashion. Father walked forward and stood infront of us.
"You may know of the six children I adopted, they made up the Umbrella Academy. I adopted seven children, the seventh child recently discovered her own powers and has been trained to join the Umbrella Academy. Number Seven converts sound waves into energy she can manipulate into an attacking or shield force. I'd like to introduce to you, Number Seven, the White Violin." he beckoned for me to come forward. I blinked at the flashing cameras and turned back in panic to Five.
"What's your real name?"
"Are you and Number Five close?"
Five came over, took my hand and replied to them:
"Her name's Vanya" He shouted over them as he teleported us away. My chest tightened and breathing became difficult. "Vanya are you okay?" Shaking my head furiously I sat down and hugged my legs to my chest. We were near where we had parked the car, he sat down next to me and put an arm over my shoulder. "What's wrong?"
"I-I hurt all those people and then they were all screaming and they're going to get mad at us for whatever this is and I don't know what to do" My voice trembled as more tears dribbled down my face.
"Vanya, you did what you had to do. They were bad people and you were saving others. Papparazzi are always going to ask intrusive questions but I don't think there's anything wrong with us. We weren't exactly raised as siblings, we're students at a school. Allison's my sister but you're my bestfriend and the girl I want to spend every minute with."
In the distance, we heard the papparazzi yelling at our father.
"Are the children siblings?"
"Are Seven and Five dating?"
"Why doesn't Five have a name?"
"Do you allow them to date eachother?"
"They are not biological siblings, their birth is a phenomenon. They each have a mother that they inherited their genetical make up from. If they choose to call eachother siblings, that's their choice. I have not raised them as siblings." He sighed in exhasperation and ushered the rest towards the car. "They may be family, but their not siblings. We are an academy. They're bound do have confusing emotions when they spend most of their time with eachother and are going through puberty and such experiences."
Soon we were all back in the car and driving back to the house.
"Number Seven, Five." Father said disrupting the uncomfortable silence, "I shall ignore whatever is going on as long as it doesn't interrupt your training or missions."
"Thankyou Father" I muttered shyly, not wanting to anger him into changing his mind.
Five smiled at me and took my hand again. Grinning back, I rested my head on his shoulder.
