monday rolled around and josh got out of bed with a groan. he let jim out to use the bathroom and made him a bowl of cereal and sat down next to abbie who was watching paw patrol (i watch this with my nephew it lowkey goes hard)

"marshall is my favorite" josh said to his little sister as he took a bite of cereal.

"i like skye" she replied taking a drink from her sippy cup. jordan and ashley walked downstairs still in their pajamas so josh took the opportunity to get in the bathroom first.

after getting ready and letting jim back in, he kissed his mom and abbie goodbye before getting in the car with darren and mia.

"i haven't seen you all weekend what's up?" mia asked him as soon as he got in the car. josh shrugged. "busy with work sorry bestie" he faked a smile as they drove to school. darren didn't buy it but proceeded to drive to school. he'll ask him about it later.

once they got to school they met up with hayley at her locker.

tyler and two of his basketball friends mark and chris walked in the school and spotted patrick. a feminine gay kid that went to their school.

"hey look its that faggot patrick" chris said to his friends. mark laughed and tyler gulped nervously.

"we haven't beat him up in a while, should we?" mark smirked as he looked at his friends for approval. chris smiled and nodded and tyler shook his head. "i don't know guys" tyler trailed. they both gave him a look.

"oh are you a homo now joseph?" chris asked. tyler immediately shook his head. "no ew that's disgusting, let's go over there actually" tyler said.

they walked over to patrick and pushed him against his locker.

"whats up fairy boy" chris said. patrick started shaking with fear. "i-i don't want a-a-any trouble" he stuttered tears welling in his eyes. mark just laughed.

"spit it out you fucking fag, you're just a waste of space, shoving your sexuality down my throat" mark said as he pushed him down. by then people began to noticed and it got quiet, too scared to do anything. tyler's friends looked at tyler for him to do something and he quickly kicked him in the gut. he didn't want to do it.

josh saw what was going on as his anger began to take over him. without thinking he walked over to them and punched tyler in his jaw.

"what the fuck is wrong with you? are you gonna hurt me now too?" josh snapped at tyler. chris and mark tried to swing on josh but he pushed them down. they instantly ran away leaving tyler, josh, and patrick.

"josh i-" josh cut him off.

"shut the fuck up." he snapped as he picked patrick up.

"let's get you to the nurse, okay?" he said softly.

"tyler joseph and joshua dun in my office now" their principal said as they approached them. josh gave him a confused look.

"what why me? i didnt do anything" josh said. not caring, the principal took the boys in his office and took patrick in the nurses, getting his side of the story later.

the two boys sat in his office, on opposite sides, tyler holding his hand up to his swollen jaw. the principal came and sat down.

"care to explain what happened?" he said sternly.

"tyler and his friends were bullying patrick, i was protecting him" josh shrugged giving tyler a dirty look. the principal looked at tyler.

"who else was involved mr. joseph?"

"no one. it was just me" he lied. he didn't want to get beat up for throwing his teammates under the bus.

"unbelievable." josh muttered under his breath. tyler rolled his eyes. "speak up pussy" josh clenched his fists and was about to say something but was cut off.

"enough. you're lucky i don't suspend you both. you know the rule. no fighting" josh's mouth dropped. "but i was protecting patrick" he protested. the principal shook his head.

"you could've done that without violence joshua. you both have detention for a month and you have to do after school community work for the school" tylers eyes widened.

"i-i can't do that. i have basketball practice, i can't get kicked off the team, please" josh rolled his eyes. he couldn't stand him.

"i will talk to your coach, tyler. now im calling your parents and having you picked up for the day. you will start on wednesday. now get out of my office"

tyler and josh nodded their heads as they walked out to wait in the main office. tyler grabbed joshs arm.

"look josh i'm sorry" tyler said. josh turned around and tyler saw nothing but pure anger.

"leave me alone. do you not understand how much trouble you just put me in?" he said as tears began to well in his eyes. tyler was about to say something but josh had already walked away.

"a fight joshua? what on earth were you thinking? i had to leave work just for this?" bill scolded his son who was sitting at the table.

"it wasnt a fight, i was sticking up for someone, you should be proud" josh said. bill rolled his eyes.

"proud? you think i'm proud? there are so many other ways you could've solved the situation joshua. you're so lucky you didn't get suspended." he snapped. josh looked down at his hands in shame.

"your fathers right, use your head next time" laura said as she was holding abbie.

"i-im sorry" he whispered. laura and bill sighed.

"you tried to do a good thing and i'm sure that boy thanks you for it, but next time think before you go punching people" josh nodded as he went upstairs to your room.

"you're also grounded" he heard his mom say.

"so you didn't lose your scholarship?" kelly asked her son. tyler shook his head. "no but did you not hear? i have detention and community service for the school for a month" he said to his mom. she didn't even notice the bruising on his jaw. get mad at me get mad at me get mad at me.

kelly smiled. "at least you didn't lose that scholarship" she ruffled his hair as she went to the living room.

"you're not mad? you're not going to ground me?" tyler said. please care. i'm doing bad things. please notice. kelly shook her head.

"nope you're good. i'm sure your father will agree as well." his mom said as she went back to watching her show. tyler shook his head tears collecting in his eyes and kelly noticed.

"why are you crying boy? boys don't cry, go outside and shoot some hoops" tyler wiped the tears and nodded.

he wanted to die.
