josh was sitting in darrens car with mia and hayley who were in the backseat. they had the radio playing in the back as they were passing around hayleys juul.

"God I wish this was a blunt right now" darren whined.

"since when did I date such a pothead" mia laughed. darren just smirked and pecked her on the mouth. josh took the juul from mia and hit it and inhaled it, blowing it into darren's mouth.

"I need the head high I get from this before I go and deal with Mr. Brocks tweaking ass" josh said before taking one more huge hit and giving hayley back her juul.

"no you're just gonna get a nicotine addiction" hayley said.

josh gave her a dirty look. "as if you don't already have one. shut up"

hayley flipped him off. "I actually hate you"

"nah you're actually in love with me" josh joked.

hayley whined. "ugh you're so right"

when it was lunch, josh set his tray down with a sigh and began eating a french fry. he looked over at tyler's table and saw him laughing with his friends, his eyes crinkling whenever he would laugh.

josh saw jenna sit down on tyler's lap and he had to stop himself from tearing up. he knew how this would end, he was stupid to get himself in this situation anyways.

he felt someone grip on to his hand and he looked up and saw it was mia. she gave him a sincere smile and josh squeezed her hand back.

"I saw you looking at him, i'm sorry bud"

josh gave her a sad smile. "it's okay. i'll be fine don't worry"

"what are you guys whispering about?" hayley asked.

mia looked at him and josh sighed. "I have a crush on tyler and I didn't want to say anything because you're a blabber mouth and it's dumb"

"me too bitch you aint special-wait like as in tyler joseph? the tyler you hate?" hayley asked.

"yes as in the tyler I hate now can we stop talking about it? it wasn't going to work out and talking about it makes me want to cry. I feel like you hayley this sucks" josh said.

hayley scoffed. "rude. also I can't believe you think I blabber, I do not"

the whole table gave her a look and she sighed. "okay fine I do but I wouldn't tell anyone about this. I know how it feels to like someone that doesn't swing the same way you do. trust me you aren't the only gay guy i've liked"

josh let out a dry laugh and shook his head. "I love you hayley"

"I love you too boo bear"

josh was walking in the hallways on his way to his last hour before he had detention with tyler. as he was walking he felt a tap on his shoulder. he turned around and there stood tyler and he felt his cheeks get hot and he hated it.

"hey tyler" he said.

"hi josh I wanted to personally say thank you again for dropping clean for me. I don't know what would've happened if I got kicked off the team" tyler said smiling.

josh stuttered out a response. "y-you're welcome"

"also!-" tyler started, "—Darren told me that you're ungrounded and since I won't have to worry about any more drug tests, do you want to hang out with us at brendon's this weekend?"

josh blushed and nodded his head. "s-sure"

tyler smiled. "great! we can talk more about it today during our community service. i'll see you later"

once tyler walked the other way josh groaned and wiped his face with hands, his face still hot.

"what the hell is wrong with me?"

the two were sitting in some random classroom eating the mcdonalds tyler went and got for them. it was almost 7:30 and they could've left an hour ago but they were just enjoying eachother's company. josh liked this side of tyler. it was him and not the person he was pretending to be.

"I like you" tyler spoke up. josh choked on his drink. "w-what?" he said anxiously.

"you are one of the only people that actually treats me like i'm human. yeah you can be an asshole sometimes but that's what I admire the most. you're real." josh mentally slapped himself. of course he wasn't talking about what he thought he was. he was with jenna. only jenna.

"oh yeah right" he started. "—i'm glad I could do that for you" he said awkwardly.

"you keep me humble" josh blushed and looked down at his food. it was quiet for a moment before tyler spoke up.

"how did you know you were gay?" josh quirked and eyebrow. why would tyler joseph be asking him that?

"um I looked at boys the way I was supposed to look at girls and I just sorta knew" tyler hummed twiddling his thumbs nervously.

"is your family fine with it?"

josh smiled. "yes I love them" a twinge of jealously flowed through tyler. he wish he could be that confident and just say it. tell everyone he was gay.

josh noticed tyler's uncomfortableness and decided to change the subject.

"one of the many things I love about mcdonalds is their chicken nuggets. and their sweet tea! how can something be so good I honestly don't understand i-" josh rambled before tyler kissed him without even thinking. josh's eyes widened and he pulled apart. they stared at eachother for a moment before josh grabbed tyler by the shirt and reconnected their lips.

tyler's heart swelled as he kissed harder, gasping into the kiss. he then remembered jenna and his family. he remembered basketball. he couldn't do this. it was wrong. wrong wrong wrong.

"i-im sorry I have to go" tyler pulled away and got up and walked out of the room. josh leaned back and touched his lips processing what happened.

"what the fuck?"
