TWENTY SEVEN

"am I riding with you?" josh asked tyler as they were walking out of the school.

tyler let out a hum. "I was hoping you would."

josh let out a small smile and walked with tyler to his jeep. once he got in, he grabbed tyler's face and connected their lips gently.

"you..did..so..well.. tonight." josh praised in between pecks. tyler smiled into the kiss and cupped josh's cheeks and looked him in the eyes before pecking his forehead.

"thank you. that means a lot coming from you." tyler whispered against his forehead.

the two stayed like that for a couple minutes before deciding that they needed to head to the icecream parlor before their friends wandered where they were.

tyler started his car and plugged in his aux cord before handing his phone to josh, so that he could pick out a song.

"I still hate this fucking car." josh spoke up while going through tyler's playlists.

tyler let out a scoff. "don't hate the jeep. rosie did nothing to you."

josh gave tyler a dirty look. "you named your car rosie? I am disgusted and disappointed."

"just pick a song and hush." the mentioned said. josh rolled his eyes but complied and settled on the 1975.

tyler smiled at the song choice and turned it up. he waited until the chorus came before he started singing.

"I DON'T WANT YOUR BODY BUT I HATE TO THINK ABOUT YOU WITH SOMEBODY ELSE." tyler screamed out the lyrics. he looked over towards josh and urged him to sing the next line.

josh playfully rolled his eyes but was still smiling as he started to sing. "OUR LOVE HAS GONE COLD, YOU'RE INTERTWINING YOUR SOUL WITH SOMEBODY ELSE."

they finished out the song and soon they pulled up to the rolled icecream shop. tyler parked next to hayley and him and josh got out.

"about time y'all got here. I was started to think you got lost." brendon joked as they walked inside. josh stood by tyler, as the others began to order.

"I've never been here before." josh admitted to tyler.

"I usually get the brownie chocolate, but the keylime pie one is really good too." tyler explained to josh.

he let out a hum. "the keylime pie one sounds good. I think I am gonna get that one." he decided.

after they all got their rolled icecream, the 6 of them sat in a booth in the back of the parlor. josh sat next to tyler and had his hand on his thigh, gently rubbing circles into it.

he felt tyler place his hand ontop of his, giving it a squeeze. josh looked up at him and gave him a soft smile before turning his attention back towards the group.

he was so infatuated with him.

"hey guys smile this is going on my story." hayley announced to the group.

after taking the picture and finishing their icecream, they all got up from the booth and left the icecream parlor. they had decided on going to dave and busters for their arcade.

once they arrived, they all got their power up cards and headed to the arcade. josh went to the driving games, since that's all he was really good at.

while he was doing that, darren came up to him. "how are things with the whole tyler situation?"

josh stiffened and paused the game. "w-what do you mean?"

darren looked at him with confused eyes. "your crush? what did you think I was talking about?"

"nothing." josh responded. "and to answer your question, things are how they usually are. we're just friends." he answered honestly.

"okay..." darren trailed off. "just know I am always here if you need someone to talk to."

josh smiled at that. "I know. now come play shooting games with me."

they were there for over an hour until they started to get bored. they traded their tickets in for a prize, and all they won was a cheap pair of sunglasses.

"give these to abbie, she'll like them." mia said as she handed them to josh. he put them in his back pocket so that he wouldn't lose them.

"since it's pretty late, do you guys just wanna stay at my house? my parents won't care." brendon asked everyone.

"mia and I can't since we have to babysit in the morning." hayley responded.

"I'll come but I'll have to run by my house to get clothes." josh added.

"I'll take you." tyler said nudging josh's arm.

"I'm in too." darren added.

brendon let out a cheer. "okay bet. we will all meet at my house then."

the boys said their goodbyes to hayley and mia and drove to josh's house. when they walked into josh's house, they saw his parents laying on the couch watching a movie.

"hi ma. where is everyone?" he asked her.

"hi baby and hello tyler," laura started. "jordan and ashley are in their rooms and abbie is asleep."

josh let a hum. "is it alright if I stay at my friend brendon's tonight?" he asked them. they both nodded their heads and josh and tyler headed up to his room.

tyler sat on josh's bed while he watched josh pack. he noticed the cup of orange juice on his nightstand and titled his head. "why do you have orange juice just chilling on your nightstand?"

josh looked at it and shrugged. "whenever i'm sad or tired, my parents would bring me orange juice because I liked the color and it always made me feel better." he admitted.

tyler smiled at that. "you're cute."

he rolled his eyes but smiled. "whatever. let's go."

when they got to brendon's, sarah was there and they all played mario kart and just dance. it was a really good night for josh and he lived for moments like these.

later that night, josh was half asleep on the floor of brendon's room, when he felt arms wrap around him. he jumped and quickly turned his head to see tyler.

"what are you doing? they could wake up and see you." josh whispered to tyler.

"I'll be back in my spot before they wake up. I just wanna hold you." he admitted.

josh's face heated up and he bit back a smile. "okay." he whispered.

tyler placed a kissed on his ear before pulling him closer. "goodnight josh."

it was a really good night.
