"mom have you seen my contacts?" josh yelled from the upstairs bathroom.

"you're out of solution! I will go get you some today" he heard his mom yell back. josh cursed to himself. he had to wear his glasses today and he didn't want to. he hated himself in them.

josh sighed as he grabbed his glasses out of the case and sat them on the brink of his nose. he walked out of the bathroom and walked downstairs and saw his family at the table eating breakfast. he grabbed a plate and started putting eggs and bacon on it before sitting down.

"nerd" he heard his brother jordan snort. he pushed him which resulted in jordan falling off the chair.

"boys stop!" laura said while stifling a laugh. jordan got back in his seat and gave josh a playful dirty look and josh gave him a cheeky smile.

"you're my favorite you know that right?" josh said to abbie who was eating eggs in her high chair. she smiled and nodded.

"don't forget you have detention and community service after school" laura reminded him. josh's eyes widened. he had honestly forgot. he didn't want to be near tyler.

"I don't wanna gooo" he whined crossing his arms like a five year old. his 14 year old sister ashley rolled her eyes. "take that as a lesson to not punch people"

"take that as a lesson to not punch people" he mocked in a high pitched voice. she scoffed. "I don't sound like that"

"I don't sound like that" he mimicked back. ashley groaned. "MOM! tell joshua to stop being annoying" josh smirked and stuck his tongue out at her.

"joshua stop annoying your siblings" laura said. josh rolled his eyes and got up and put his plate in the sink. he heard darren honk his horn and his kissed his mom on the forehead along with his two sisters.

"you're not gonna give me a kiss?" jordan joked puckering up his lips.

"oh how could I forget my sweet baby brother!" he exclaimed while grabbing his face and kissing his cheek.

jordan cringed. "gross I take that back"

"whatever. bye mi familia I love you!" he called out before walking out the door.

"he's in a good mood this morning" ashley stated. laura smiled. "he is. I love when he's in a good mood."

josh got in the front seat this morning since mia wasn't there. once he got in darren examined him.

"you're wearing your glasses"

"it's either that or be blind for the rest of the day" josh said putting on his seatbelt. darren laughed as he backed out of his driveway.

"you know I think you look cute in them" josh snorted. "why don't you just confess your undying love for me while you're at it" he joked. they both let out a laugh at the thought of them as a couple and continued driving to school.

"so" darren started. "—you have detention with tyler after school dont you?" darren asked. joshua nodded his head. "don't remind me. I don't wanna go" he whined.

"I can't believe he did that to patrick. it doesnt seem like him at all. when we all hung out at brendons he was a completely different person" josh nodded in agreement.

"exactly. he cares so much about his rep and how other people see him and it's bullshit. he acts all fine with gays and then he goes and bullies them. he's a piece of shit and I can't believe I even thought for a second that he was a good person" darren agreed.

they pulled into the school and got out of car. they met up with hayley and mia and they all engaged in conversation before the bell rung. josh saw tyler out of the corner of his eyes and saw the bruise on his jaw from mondays events. he felt bad. just a little bit.

the day seemed to drag on and soon josh was heading towards the detention room. he walked in and saw tyler already in his seat. they made eye contact but josh quickly broke it as he sat down far away from tyler.

"I didn't know you wore glasses" tyler said. josh rolled his eyes. "we aren't supposed to be talking" he scoffed.

"the principal isn't in here yet." tyler said stating the obvious and josh scoffed.

"still. don't talk to me." tyler rolled his eyes but did as he was told. josh was so stubborn. tyler looked at joshua as he was doing his homework. his glasses looked cute on him. he also liked the way he played with his hair while thinking.

tyler mentally slapped himself for thinking that. he loves jenna and only jenna.

"okay boys you have one hour of detention and then I need you to go to all the classrooms and get the recycling" the principal said taking a seat at the desk. both boys nodded and josh continued doing his homework while tyler fell asleep.

he was awoken later by a tap to his arm. he slowly opened his eyes and saw josh.

"come on i'm not doing this shit by myself. also you snore" tyler blushed and got up following josh to the first classroom. they grabbed the recycling and dumped it in the bucket.

"i'm sorry" tyler spoke up while they were walking to the next classroom. josh scoffed. "no you aren't. you're only sorry because you got caught. your apologizes don't mean shit to me" tyler stopped walking and looked at him.

"why do you hate me so much? I thought we were cool for a minute"

josh sighed. "we were never 'cool'. we worked on a science project and that's all. you literally beat up someone who was gay after you told me you had no problem with it"

"I don't have a problem with it" tyler interjected

"then why did you do it?" josh questioned. tyler stayed silent. josh hummed and rolled his eyes. "exactly my point. now stop talking to me and let's get this bullshit done so I can go home"

they finally finished and it was a quarter til 7. josh had texted him mom saying he was done and sat outside waiting on her.

"do you need a ride?" tyler asked. josh shook his head. "no my moms coming"

"are you sure? I know where you live" tyler asked

"I said no" josh snapped which caught tyler off guard and he frowned. josh felt bad. he didn't mean to snap.

"I didn't mean to snap at you" josh said. tyler waved it off.

"it's fine. see you on friday" he replied quietly while getting in his car and driving off.
