We had waited at the warehouse for three weeks. Three weeks of waiting for Simon to come back, for him to come and comfort us in our sorrows.
But he didn't.
I could only imagine the worst, something in my gut though. Something deep inside of me knew he was fine. Still, my thoughts and imagination were cruel to me. After the time had passed, we knew that we had to move.
Julie was out there, and she was dangerous. We needed to find her.
"You ready to go?" I asked, I looked back and saw Florida sitting on Ty's shoulders squealing in delight. "Your serious?"
"Hey, come on. We are having fun!" She complained.
"Yea! She is tiny, she wants to know how it feels to be big! And macho!" Ty gloated, flexing with the small child on his back.
"I never said that."
"Yea, but you are tiny." He shot back, swinging her around on his broad shoulders.
"How do you know; you can't see me?"
"Well, I can feel your weight. You probably don't weigh more than one hundred pounds. And your hair is probably like, fifty percent of your weight." I chuckled at the shot towards her poufy and enormous hair.
"That's cute." I mumbled, rolling towards the exit. "We already spent enough time here. We need to find Julie."
"Ok, ok." Ty groaned, starting to walk with the "What about the chaotic bag of cats? We can't just leave him here." I groaned at the idea of driving around with him in the car, I wouldn't be able to handle it. None of us would.
"Where is the evacuation point exactly?" I asked.
"It's a homeless hideaway near one of the major highways." He stood there for a moment paused, as if he could tell what I was thinking. "Oh god Mia."
"Do you have a better idea? Julie could be anywhere. We can't exactly cross state borders with him tied up in our backseat." He stood there for a moment in a pause, as if he was debating my idea.
"Fine, but we leave Paris in charge of him. He will be blindfolded and gagged like, ninety percent of the day, and if he tries anything we come back here so I can shoot him." He told me.
God, I was done babysitting the psychopath.
As soon as we walked in the room he eyed us like a predator. Even though he was the one with the severe disadvantage.
"Don't even try anything. We are handing you off." I rolled behind his chair and untied him, but as soon as I did Ty grabbed his wrists and held him tightly.
"Don't try anything or I will break your arm." He growled. He wasn't bluffing. Burnham just let out a low hum as we dragged him out of the room and into the car.
We sat him in the backseat and quickly tied his arms together. I watched as Florida and Ty attempted to blindfold him and gag him.
After we were all situated in the truck I started the car and sent us driving down the highway.
It took every nerve in my body to not look back at him and make sure that he was still there. Every single instinct in my body needed to look back and make sure he didn't disappear in thin air and escape from us once again.
I even asked Florida a few times as reassurance that he was still tied and gagged in our backseat.
We kept driving, until I reached the point. The place was covered in different colored tents; our people were mixed along with the other homeless. No one would find them here, it was a great idea.
