Part 10~Just friends arent we?

Emily pov

1:45 came round and I decided to head off to the park. I ran downstairs, grabbing my jacket and saw joe and Dianne snuggled up on the sofa "aww" I thought to my self. God I really love these people.
"Hey, is it ok if I go up to the park for a bit? I'm meeting James" I asked, hoping they would say yes.
"yep that's fine, just don't be back too late" Dianne said
"Thank youuuuuuu" I said, running out the door.
As I was walking to the park, I saw a group of 5 or 6 girls huddled around. I tried to walk past quickly as they seemed like trouble.
"Oi, scum" one of them called out to me.
They were all surrounding me now, and I started to feel really anxious.
One girl spat at me and I could feel my eyes starting to water.
But then I heard a familiar voice
"Hey, get off her now!" Yelled James as he was walking towards me.
All the girls quickly ran away and I was left on the floor crying until a big pair of arms wrapped around me.
"Hey, Hey, it's ok, there gone now, it's alright" James said in a soft voice.
"Do you want to go back to yours" he asked, I just nodded, still feeling anxious.
We walked back to my house, James being really protective the whole way, with his arm wrapped around me. As we approached the house, I stopped James.
"Please don't tell them, not now, I'll do it tonight"
"Okay if you're sure"
We walked in and saw Joe making dinner.
"Hi you two, did you have a good time"
"Mhm" I mumbled, going upstairs with James following me. As soon as I got into my room I collapsed onto my bed and curled up

James pov
Seeing Emily like this broke me- but why do I care about her so much?
I only see her as a friend, right?

-after dinner-
Emily's pov
"Emily what's up? You haven't been yourself since you got back" Dianne queried.
"Erm"
James, who was sitting next to me, gave me a look as if to say, tell them.
"Well when I was walking to the park a group of girls came up to me and started called me scum..." James put his arm around my shoulder .
"they cornered me and spat at me. But then James came over and told them to go away" I smiled, leaning against his chest slightly. Dianne came over and gave me a hug whilst Joe thanked James.
-an hour later-
James had to go now and I was really upset. I said bye to him at the door, thanking him for today and hugging him.
After he had left I went straight to bed and fell into a dreamless sleep.
