We were walking to the death room and (Y/N) was ahead of me, so I was admiring her. She was wearing black skinny jeans, a grey sweatshirt, and black slip on shoes. Her hair was pulled back, loosely, and she was absolutely stunning.

"(Y/N)..." I called out to her, making her turn around and glance at me, stopping in her tracks.

"Hm? Yes?" She hummed, looking up at me as I caught up with her. Intertwining our fingers, I smiled and she looked shocked, asking,

"What's up, Stein?"

"Nothing, I just love you." I replied, making her giggle at the corny reply.

"I love you too, dummy." She giggled, pulling me to where my arm was over her shoulders and we continued to the academy, in comfortable silence. As we passed by her old apartment, I noticed a moving van out front and the lack of souls in the vicinity, but I thought nothing of it.

Coming up to the Death Room, Spirit was coming out and he looked at us, starting,

"Maybe you guys should wait out here for a minute." (Y/N) tilted her head and I felt a soul wavelength in the Death Room, pulling away from her. Pushing past Spirit, I walked into the room and heard (Y/N)'s voice,

"Wha--Stein!" As I came into the room, I saw Troy standing next to Lord Death and I felt pure rage. Going to step forward, I was held back by Spirit and (Y/N)'s voice whispered to me,

"Stein, we're here to get a mission. He isn't worth the time." Her hand rested in mine and I relaxed, sighing. Troy turned towards us and Death felt the tension, saying,

"Troy, can you come back in an hour?"

"No, we were just talking about how Stein is the issue here. He brainwashed (Y/N)!"

"I'm the issue?! I am not the one who used her as a human punching bag!" I growled, pulling (Y/N) into my chest and hugging her, against me.

"I never did that!" He protested, stomping his foot and she tensed, hugging me tighter. Lifting the back of her shirt, I exposed a large scar she had on her back and growled,

"This is a scar that you left on her when you were drunk and threw boiling water at her because she didn't have dinner ready at two in the afternoon!"

"I don't remember-"

"Troy, just go home and finish packing please." Spirit interrupted him, pushing him out of the room and Lord Death sighed. Pulling (Y/N)'s shirt back down, I kissed the top of her head and she huffed, as Lord Death started,

"I'm sorry you two. He's being ridiculous and he'll be gone by the end of the month, I promise. Anyway, let's talk about this mission."

"Okay, let's hear it!" I replied, relieved to hear that her abusive ex would be gone in a little while.

"There is a witch collecting human souls in Spain and I want you to take care of her." He informed us, relaxing as (Y/N) relaxed and she looked up at me, humming. Holding my hand out to her, I waited for her to take my hand and when she did, I replied,

"Let's do it, my love." Nodding, she chuckled and we left for Spain, passing Troy on the way out.

When we got to Spain, we got straight to work and (Y/N) transformed into her weapon form, a black and (f/c) scythe.

"We'll defeat this witch for Lord Death and then we can stay here for a little while. Just to get away from the city for a little while." I told her, feeling her soul warm and become happier, through our connection.

"I'm glad, I could use a break." She replied and I chuckled, teasing,

"Don't get too excited. I plan to stay in bed with you on the course of our break. So, you won't really get a break."

"Stein!" Smiling, I look down at her and she giggled, fussing,

"Focus, if you get injured we can't have our break." Nodding, I focused and went to the place where the witch was last sighted.

"Doctor Stein~" A voice called out of the shadows and I tensed, hearing (Y/N)'s voice say,

"Stay on guard." A woman came out of the shadows, she was tall and thin with long black hair that flowed down her back.

"You're even more handsome in person." She flirted with me and I felt (Y/N)'s wavelength waver. Staying composed, I glared at her and thought to my girlfriend,

'Calm down, (Y/N).' Feeling her calm down, I kept my silence and the witch pouted at me, continuing,

"It's rude to ignore a lady."

"You aren't much of a lady, witch." I countered, blocking an attack and hearing metal clash against, (Y/N)'s blade. The witch smirked and vibrations were sent along her blade, making (Y/N) scream. Blood came off the crease of her weapon and I panicked, but (Y/N) yelled,

"Stein, do NOT loose your focus! I'm fine!"

"Stop that!" I growled, hitting the witch with my soul wavelength and hearing (Y/N)'s panting breath, I glanced at her.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Let's get this over with." As I stood ready to fight, (Y/N)'s wavelength changed and she seemed less pained, more determined. The witch smirked at us and before she could get her spell out, we resonated.

"Witch Hunter!" I yelled, cutting her in half and feeling a resistance through (Y/N), her wavelength becoming faster. As her soul floated in front of us, (Y/N) turned back into her human form and before she could fall, I caught her. Going to a hotel, I laid (Y/N) down onto the bed and called Lord Death to report. After I told him that we'd be staying in Spain for the weekend, I went lay next to (Y/N) and wrapped my arms around her waist, spooning her.
