"Would you like to order anything?"

I turned to the waiter with an irritated look on my face, it was the fifth time this afternoon he came to ask that same damn question and I was beginning to almost reach my limit but thankfully Sofia cut in before I could.

"See chico, this is the fifth time you are asking us this question" she started, "And I'm telling you for the fifth and last time, we.are.not.here.to.eat"

Her voice was calm but the expression she had confirmed her growing annoyance. With that final statement, the man grudgingly left our table and went back to wherever he came from.

As I exhaled a sigh of frustration, I began to regret why I even came here with Sofia.

We were currently sitting at a table, in one of the well known restaurants here in the city. Sofia was supposed to interrogate a successful business man called Kylen Morris, as part of an assignment given to them by their prof.

He had asked us to meet up here but it's been almost half an hour since he was supposed to arrive. I had more important things to do than wait here all day for some man who didn't have enough respect to appear on time.

"Of all people, you had to choose this kind of person to interrogate?"

Sofia looked up from her phone, "It's not my fault he was the only person among the rich stuck up snubs who accepted my request"

Glancing at my watch, I said "You might as well forget the interview, that man isn't coming"

My friend dropped her phone and reached across the table to take my hands, "Please just a few more minutes Reggie"

"That's the same thing you said a few minutes ago" I retorted.

Tightening her hold on my hands, she begged. "Come on, just this last time"

Exhaling in defeat, I gave in to her plea for the second time. Sofia thanked me and once again promised me things that I knew she was going to forget to do.

"What happened to the person who was supposed to be in my stead?"

Adjusting the ponytail on her head, Sofia rolled her eyes in exasperation, "Adam is an absolute pendejo, he's unreliable and stupid as fuck" she insulted, "I have no idea why he was even assigned to be my partner"

"You could have asked for another person"

Sofia glanced at her phone, "Every one already had someone with whom they were paired and besides, Adam seemed alright since he was good with handling a camera"

"And you think I'm the best at handling one?" I asked in wonder, "You could have asked Kina or even Emilio to help you out"

Taking one of the peanuts placed on the table, Sofia answered, "You know that Kina is at school, attending one of her lame ass group meetings"

Maybe I should start going with Kina to one of those class group meetings, at least it could give me an excuse to evade so many of Sofia's requests. I always seemed to be the unfortunate one helping her when she had a problem, and that was on many cases.

Chewing on the nuts, she added, "Then Emilio is always busy with work, if he's not at the office, then he's in a meeting and if he's not in a meeting, then he's at-"

The beep of her phone cut her off. Glancing at the screen, Sofia's usual red painted lips stretched into a small smile. "It's from Emilio"

With an uninterested tone, I asked "And what did he say?"

"He just wanted to check up on me"

I nodded.

After sending him a quick reply, she dropped her phone and looked at me with a weird smile on her face.
