Chapter 9 | Think About Us (PART I)

After accepting to attend Emilio's birthday celebration, I had spent the whole evening mentally preparing my mind for the upcoming event but as I currently stood in front of the large luxurious house, I definately did not feel as ready as I was yesterday.

The loud music could be heard from here outside but it wasn't too loud to cause a disturbance with the neighbors. Cars occupied the whole drive way and that had made it difficult for Kina to even find a space available.

Finally entering through the door, the first thing I did was analyze the house, the interior was decorated with expensive objects, furnitures etc, a large chandelier which really did not have to be there, hung in the ceiling of the sitting room.

The house design definately suited its owner.

People who I certainly did not recognise, occupied every corner of the house with each person interacting with another.

"I thought you said this was going to be a small gathering Sofia" Kina stated as she observed the many occupants.

Sofia who had been looking around for her boyfriend, stopped her search and faced her. "It is a small gathering"

I looked at the 15-20 people in the room and said, "I'm pretty sure your defination of small is much different from ours"

At my response, she rolled her eyes and advised, "Reggie, Kina, we are just here to celebrate and have fun with Emilio. You aren't obliged to talk to the others if you are shy"

I raised my brows at her, "Shy? Me? Are you serious?"

"We are not shy Sofia, we just-" Kina had started to explain but was completely cut off by Sofia's excited squeal.

"Emilio is over there, come on let's go wish him a happy birthday"

With that said, Sofia rushed towards what I presumed was the kitchen, leaving the both of us in the midst of strangers.

"If it wasn't for the fact that I know Emilio, I would have walked out of this place already" I muttered with slight irritation.

Kina stared at me with a smile on her lips, "Don't be like that Reggie" she began, "We are already here, so let's just try and have a good time, even if it is by just sitting down and observing people"

I immediately chuckled at her statement.

Trust Kina to lighten up my mood when needed. So forgetting my previous irritation, I followed her towards the same path Sofia had earlier taken. Swiftly passing through the crowd and eventually arriving in the kitchen.

There were very few people in the kitchen, including Emilio and Sofia, who were busy arranging various bowls of cooked meals on the counter. They all looked delicious and ready to be eaten.

As we approached the couple, I noticed the absence of that particular person despite my unwillingness to think of him.

"Look who's here"

Emilio smiled when he perceived our presence. He quickly dropped on the table the bowls he held on his hand and gave each of us a welcoming hug. "I'm glad you could make it girls"

"We wouldn't have missed it for any other thing" I replied with a smile of my own.

I didn't miss the glances given to me by Sofia and Kina. It was a lie of course, if I had a choice in the matter, coming to the party wouldn't have been an option.

"Well thank you for your presence" he said, "The party only started a few minutes ago, so you came right on time"

Sofia suddenly took a fried chicken out of one of the bowls, "Can you believe that Emilio prepared all these food you are seeing on the table?"
