The woman leaned on the post that she stood be side, watching the outside world. Her hair was as red as fire and she had not, nor ever would, loose the look of youth she had. Behind her, stood the city of Aletha. With all its colours and sounds showing the gloriously hard work they had went through to protect and create this city.
Luckily, on this day it was quite sunny both inside and outside of the shield. She was positioned on the side of the city where you could almost see Zeno.
The immortal scoffed, Zeno. What a horrible name for such an awful place.
Sadly, the way that Aletha was built, if you wanted to see the city fully you would enter from this position.
Apollo had been gone for a year now, Hades had recruited a few of his immortal children to watch over the sun. Now you may think, geez Miranda, why are you telling us all this? Well, it would be quite important seeing as Apollo stood at the gate, kinda like in the airports, waiting to go through detectors. He had two cloaked companions.
Miranda blinked, beside her, the demi-titan also did. Bit of information, demi-titans age very slowly so Irene only looked around 15 after almost forty-five years.
The champion of Hestia pushed off the wall, and began to head to them. A lower-level guardian went to approach her, but she waved him off, signifying that she would deal with it herself.
Nevertheless, he was well trained and followed behind the slightly in case of an altercation. Miranda made a mental note to get him trained for a higher position if he followed the rules well enough to not accept an order from a higher-up.
Other civilians noticed her movement and began to watch also, as it wasn't often you would see such high-ranking officials heading towards someone else trying to get into the city. They had the power to get you exiled forever and you really didn't want that.
Miranda approached the group of three, Irene right beside her. "Apollo?"
The man's head shot up and Miranda quickly realised that it was really him, Irene grinned, "welcome back, god of too many things. How was your trip?"
Apollo smiled, obviously happy to be back in a place he considered home, "long, but good. Fates are tricky I tell you, if they ever send you on a mission, be ready for anything."
Miranda nodded at the two cloaked figures. At first she would have thought that one of his two companions would have been the Heir of the Fates, but then again, why would there be two? One seemed male and the other female. Miranda, frankly, was confused.
The demi-titan shrugged at Miranda before asking Apollo, "they all good?"
The god of sun smiled enthusiastically, "yup. I'll wait till we get to the amphitheatre to explain, so I don't have to repeat myself a million times." Apollo glanced at them, "call the taller one Bob and the other one, Mary."
'Bob' chuckled, "that's an awful name."
Apollo grinned, "which one?"
Miranda rolled her eyes, before waving down the low-rank Guardian. He quickly approached them and she asked, "name and lineage?"
"Corrin Yang, son of Sherman Yang and grandson of Ares, god of war. Sigma level, Guardian." The boy saluted her.
She saluted back, "Miranda Gardiner, daughter of Demeter, goddess of agriculture and champion of Hestia, goddess of the hearth. Gamma level, Seeker." Miranda inspected the boy, "son of Sherman Yang, you say? I would think you'd be a higher level than Sigma, with who your father is."
The slightly-Asian looking boy shrugged, "he said he wants me to go up the ranks on my own, something about not wanting me to be a privileged little wiener."
Miranda chuckled, snapping her fingers and chucking him the letter that appeared, "
give your Omicron-level supervisor that and you'll find yourself changing rank. Start deciding and what you want to specialise in."
The boy nodded thankfully, saluted and raced off.
The immortal led them through customs and into the streets of Aletha. Suddenly she heard 'bob' ask, "what was all that?" 'Mary' still hadn't said anything, but rather watched the people and the city closely.
Irene answered, "from top to bottom, military ranks are; Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Eta, Theta, Kappa, Omicron, Sigma, Upsilon and Omega. Omega to Omicron you're a guardian, Omicron as the leaders. To move up to Kappa, a higher-level official like Miranda needs to recommend you, at Kappa you begin being trained for you're position. Seeker, hunter, scout or spy. Gamma is usually filled with immortals and demi-titans, Beta has gods mostly and Alpha has the most powerful and most experienced. This would be people like Nico, son of Hades or Perci, Heir of the Fates."
The woman, 'Mary', quietly asked, "but you have not seen her in forty years, how do you know if she is powerful or not?"
Apollo said, "this entire city is built because of we started. We created a utopia because of what happened to her, we might as well give her a position of honour."
"And what about the son of Hades?"
"He was one of the main reasons we have the city as well. As you can see, the dome above us is different from Camp Half-Blood, while it was being created and tested, many had to protect the city from monsters and so on. He was one of the leading roles, his kill-count was off the charts."
'Mary' snorted, "thought so, and I'm assuming they weren't all just monsters?"
Miranda locked away the fact that this woman had seen the Camp Half-blood shields before and knew who Nico was, "it wasn't great, but if Zeus and his idiots sent gods or demigods to kill us, we had to protect ourselves."
The unknown woman nodded, "understandable. Have you killed?"
Miranda nodded, "have you?"
'Mary' seemed far away as she spoke, "a few times, very long ago, I refused to do it anymore after something happened. Though I have a feeling, that I should have stopped after I killed one more man, not before."
Miranda shrugged, she didn't know this woman well enough to give her advice. They continued their walk through the streets peacefully,
