chapter 17 socially awkward

Sorry everyone for not uploading in a while. Been pretty busy in school lately. I don't want to get into it to much, but hope you enjoy the chapter.

I was walking with Fai. We were heading to my house to heal these peoples friend. I don't know to much so far. I hear them whispering to them selves, but they have made no action to attack.

I inwardly sigh to myself. 'I haven't talked to a normal person without acting to much before.' In other words I don't know how to talk to these people without them questioning me to much.

The only thing I'm sure of is, that I need to keep this cold front up. I'm leading these people to my home... I'm an idiot.

Though I'm helping someone so I shouldn't complain to much.

It was about five minutes before we made it to my house. I still haven't said a word. 😫 how do normal people interact in this situation.

I'm exasperated at the moment. With a little resolve I start to talk. "Can I ask you three, why we're you so deep in the forest. There are many magical beasts out here." I'm able to keep the cold tone I want.

The men keep silent. Thought the woman of the group speaks up. "We were supposed to go on the main road near the village, but there was an ambush while we were on the road. We made it here in the forest, but we made a mistake and let our guards down. A magical beast attacked us, and we already lost mana. It left though in a hurry a few minutes before you showed up."

The woman tells me with an even tone. It wasn't to girly or manly at the same time.

I thought about what I was going to say to them. 'Well I can't keep calling them, men, and woman.' I nod to myself.

"May I ask for your names." I still answer coldly, as if no room for rejection. The woman sighs, she's was about to answer, but the man, (Edrick I think) cut her off.

" why would we have to answer you?" He says in a proactive tone. I was annoyed, but couldn't really say anything to that. The woman surprisingly defends me though.

" Edrick, he saved us. Although we aren't in the best situation at the moment, we can at least give our names. She says to him darkly. That seems to have shut him up, because he stays quiet.

"My name is Evin, the quiet man over there is my brother Kaden, and the grumpy wielding the sword is Edrick. Lastly the man unconscious is Aedus.

I hummed as acknowledgment. I saw my house in the distant. I made sure to keep hold of the rope so they don't wander off. I'm also grateful for the extra bandanas.

We were in front of my house. "Stop walking." They did as told. I opened the door. I told them to walk forward. They listened. When they were all inside I closed the door. " you may all take your bandanas off."

I looked at them taking them off. We were in the living room area. They looked around with there eyes while I went to Fai. " Fai, you can put him in the couch." I pat his head.

That gains everyone's attention. They look, as Fai puts Aedus on the couch. "Fai, can you go grab some ointment, and pain reliever."

Fai nods his head at me, 'of course Simon.' He says happily in my head. I see Fai go walk into the back of the house.

The people look at me. I sigh out loud this time. " you can ask three questions only." I won't answer personal ones though, I thought to myself.

They look at each other for a bit, and nod to each other. ' what was that?' I couldn't, but help think.

Evin asks first. " Umm, so are you a child, or a dwarf, maybe a elf. It's just you're so small. "

" so what if I'm small, there are small people everywhere. " I say annoyed. "I'm human if that's what your asking."

Evin didn't look fully happy with the answer, but doesn't say anything. "Next." I say almost in lethargic tone.

Edrick goes next. " what was with that deer thing? Is it your contract beast." I couldn't tell them I had a spirit beast contract so I just answered yes.

Finally the quiet one, I'm quite worried about this one. "Do you have any food..... I'm hungry." I sweat dropped, almost falling over.

The other two look at him, and sigh while face palming.  Not really sure how to respond I just concluded I could make them dinner.

" Umm, sure? I can make dinner for everyone, after Fai comes back." Just as I said that I saw Fai come back with everything.

I grab the ointment from tube from his mouth while he has some pain reliever herbs in a canister on his head. I almost awwed at the sight.

I pat his pet his head with one of my hands. I hand everything over to the people on the couch, I explain how to apply everything , and how it works.  I head into the kitchen to make dinner.

' What have I got myself into.'
