Song: Alisha from Pyaar Impossible
________________
"Alisha, Jabse tujhko hai jaana, dil ne kaha na maana. Sach toh hai tu kaha mai kaha." The very familiar voice sang the song.
"Please tell me I am hallucinating."
"Juhi maa called Sameer back from Mumbai." Naina finished.
"I'm real Aloo. You aren't hallucinating." He said.
God? Was my peaceful life getting annoying for you?
"Why?" I looked at Naina.
"I thought you would be happy to see me." Sameer said grinning.
"Was I ever happy to see you?" I said.
I closed my ears for the following scene. Naina imitated me.
Why? Here's what would happen.
"SAMMYYYYYYYYY!"
"AARUUUUU!"
Oh lord. Even closing oour ears doesn't help these days.
These would be ear piercing screeches which would have led to temporary deafness for both Naina and I.
"You guys done screaming? Can we open our ears?" Naina said.
They started doing their handshake thingy which is when we opened our ears.
Cringe.
"Your sister doesn't seem to be so glad to see me." Sameer told Aarav.
"You know how it is. They try to resist us and then ultimately fall for our charms." Aarav said.
As if.
"Is that so, Aarav?" I said.
"If I remember correctly, it was you who bent down on one knee in the middle of the road surrounded by our school mates begging me to be your girlfriend." Naina said.
My brother got his proposal ideas from Indian soaps.
"Busted." Aarav sighed.
"You and you? Oh. My. God. I don't believe this." He enveloped them into a bear hug.
Drama.
"Stop acting. You totally know we have been dating for the past six months." Naina said.
And they talked. Let's begin with Sameer's intro. Sameer Sharma aka hawa ka jhoka aka Naina's step brother. The Sharmas had a very long history. In short, Naina's mom passed away of cancer when she was three. Her dad married Sameer's mom, who was a divorcee. They had faced a lot of revolt from the rest of the world about the marriage but they decided to ignore all of it for the sake of their children and themselves.
Naina didn't even remember her mom very well.
Juhi aunty had brought her up since she was three. Same went for Sameer who had a complicated relationship with his father, whom he didn't see much of since his parents divorced when he was two years old.
Well, except when Juhi aunty forced him to go to Mumbai to live with his father once a year during a vacation. To Naina and Sameer, the family that they had now was what mattered the most.
Let's get back now.
Sameer and I have a terrible history. We do not get along. He might be my brother's bff, but he is my enemy.
