Song : Yeh Mera Dil from Don

"We have to postpone the honeymoon, babe." Aarav told Naina.
"Where were you guys supposed to go?" Sam asked as we sat in the living room of our Mumbai apartment.
Well, they were sitting. I wasn't.
"Italy." Naina said.
"Corona Virus couldn't let me get the house alone for a few days. Bloody virus." I said as I brewed the coffee in our open kitchen. "By the way, when are you leaving?"
"I have a case pending in Bombay, I'll leave as soon as it is over. Why, do you want me to stay?" Sam said wiggling his eyebrows.
"Just asking." I replied.
"Just say that you don't want him to go, Ally. Don't make random excuses." Naina said, laughing.
"Shut up! It is nothing like that." I said.
"Aarav!" I called my brother.
"Oh, sorry." He said, realising that I called him to help me with the coffee mugs.
"By the way, Ally, when are you going back to work?" Naina asked.
"Tomorrow. I've got a lot to catch up on." I said plopping down on the couch as Waffles found a place next to me.
"Sam, Ally, we need to talk to you." Aarav said.
Oh crap!
Aarav's serious. Bad news."They told you, didn't they?" Sam said.
Told them what?
WAIT. NO. NEVER. NADA. THIS CAN'T BE FUCKING HAPPENING. BLOODY RISHI AND KRITI!
"What? You thought we didn't know?" Naina said.
"About what?" I asked shrugging.
"Nothing much, just that the two of you had sex five years ago, when Sam came home the last time." Aarav said.
"What? No! Nothing like that ever happened!" I protested.
"We know it happened. We have known since the day of Rishi and Kriti's wedding day." Naina said.
"And our suspicion was confirmed when Rishi and Kriti said that you guys admitted it by mistake the morning we went to Victoria Memorial." Aarav said.
"So, tell us, what happened? Because, I clearly remember that you guys were not even on speaking terms when Sam suddenly surprised everyone during the cocktail party the day before their wedding." Naina said.
Sam got up and slowly paced his way around the living room.
"Yes, we slept together five years ago. Ally was totally drunk. She started blabbering about stuff like unicorns and fairies and how cute I looked." Sam said.
"Sam, first of all, hands of my books." I said finding him going through my prized collection of novels. "And second, nothing of that sort happene So, here's what happened."
Flashback to the year 2015, the day before Kriti and Rishi's wedding.
"I hate you, Naina. You made me wear this cocktail dress! You know I hate wearing dresses of any kind." I said gulping down the drink in front of me.
Sameer Sharma is here. That idiotic stupid asshole peice of shit is here. Yes, I know it doesn't make sense. Well,I am not sober. I am not supposed to make sense.
"Wait. Is this before or after you started singing that bad rendition of 'Ye Mera Dil'?" Aarav asked, laughing.
"Before. AND DON'T INTERRUPT!"
"So this song is dedicated to Sameer Sharma, who popped up here, unannounced!" I yelled and I started singing.
And that was the last thing I remember before I found myself being carried to the hotel room in Goa.
"What is happening?" I asked.
"Shut up." I heard someone say.
That blithering idiot.
"I won't shut up. Put me down." I said angrily.
"I know how to make you shut up." He said throwing me down on the bed.
"Ow! That hurt you idiot!" I said.
"I wanted it to." He replied, an angry look on his face. "God knows what would've happened if I didn't bring you here. Why do you even drink when you can't handle it!"
"You bloody moron!" I said getting up on my feet. "You have no right to be mad at me. I am not the one who hasn't spoken to you in three years, I am not the one who showed up here unannounced, I am not--"
Before I could finish, he kissed me on the lips. His hands grabbed my waist, pulling me closer. I wanted to break it off but I couldn't. My hands travelled towards his neck and wrapped them selves around it.
"And the next thing I knew, we were taking each other's clothes off." I said.
"And the next morning, I woke up to find her gone." Sam said.
"Excuse me, I wasn't the one who left. It was you. And then you avoided me for the rest of the wedding."
"You avoided me for the rest of the wedding!" He protested.
"Looks like you've got some sorting out to do." Aarav said.
"We'll leave you two alone." Naina said as the two of them walked into their room, pretending they couldn't hear us.
"Look, I don't know what you're talking about. Because, I woke up, I went to the bathroom and when I came out, you were gone." I said.
"You were in the washroom?"
"Yes, you idiot! I was in the washroom! Anyways, let bygones be bygones. It has been five years and I don't hold anything against you for that." I said getting up.
"I was your first, wasn't I?" He asked as he grabbed my hand before I could walk away.
I nodded my head.
"And that is why you were avoiding me the entire wedding."
"Sam, I said I don't hold anything against you. You've meant a lot to me, all my life. And even though you irritate me to a point where I can't handle it anymore, you'll always be one of my closest friends." I replied.
"Just a friend?" He asked standing up.
His big black eyes were sparkling as he hinted on us being more than 'just friends'.
"Maybe, that's the way it should be for now." I said.
It'll never be that way, and you of all people know it, Alisha.
Maybe it will. Maybe it won't. Who knows what life has in store for us?
