04| Staying Awake.

I was happy. I was happy even when it was merely a conversation in the world where things were so rushed and fast.

I was happy because yesterday made me feel different; it made me and my feelings recognised in some way.

I was happy because it gave me new hopes, it gave my heart a backing, it made me feel more secured, it made me feel good that he was very much there to understand I had myself all crazy for him.

I was happy because I just wanted to celebrate the little progress we made, after waiting for so long, for years.

Weren't my reasons strong enough to answer why I could not stop blushing thinking about how we talked for the first time last night?

"Good morning, uncle." I greeted him pleasantly, walking up to the dining table where everybody was sat for the brunch.

"Good morning." I smiled at everyone in general, my eyes viewing Arsalan.

"It's just a minute to good afternoon darling," Uncle responded to me and everybody fell into a light laughter.

"Oh." I giggled too, a bit embarrassed, checking the time on the wall clock.

"It's okay. I know you two are back in your holiday mood. We are used to our afternoons being your mornings." He replied jokingly as I sat on the chair next to him, the one beside Arsalan's opposite.

"Don't say that." Aunty corrected, applying cheese on the bread. "They woke up early in the morning and even went for a walk."

"Really?" Uncle raised his eyes at me, impressed. "It's new now."

I laughed. "That's because we did not sleep the whole night," I admitted. We had gossiped, we had stalked people on their Instagram and we had done every other thing except sleeping.

"The day broke, we weren't sleepy so we thought of walking around and see how sunrise in Indore be like." I talked to him.

"So now the two are gonna sleep the whole day and then again not at night and the cycle goes on until Daniya misses a lecture or two." Aunty was so thorough with the routine of the both of us that I was amazed.

"I do not even disagree," I replied. "She almost missed her test last time," I told her.

"Ammi juice?" Arsalan interrupted, his eyes fixed on me as he ate with the folk, asking his mother for the jug that was kept beside me.

I could not get enough of his antiques. They intrigued me, they made me eager and more engaged but they did annoy me at times too, to be honest. But today I was ready for all his tantrums.

Like, who would fathom that the same Arsalan was talking to me all good last night when he wouldn't even take my name in front of his family?

Was not he suggestive enough last night that he liked me too; or maybe that at least he had observed how I liked him a little too much?

"I'd pass on." I stopped Aunty, picking it up and serving it in a glass for him.

His hand touched mine while he took it from me. "Thank you." He paused for a second before calling out "Ammi".
