27| Why? Why Now?
I scrolled through the tweets, randomly liking a few quotes while waiting for Mr. Arsalan to show up. It was more than half an hour since I had been sitting in the conference room for him.
I huffed vexedly looking up at the clock. I wondered when did Arsalan become so arrogant that he postponed meeting me because it was charity and could be done anytime.
He went to receive a bussiness ally of his even when he knew I was there to discuss. But wasn't money always his priority?
I forced a smile at the lady who sat in front of me. "He is on his way." She mouthed and I nodded as if I was all okay.
It had been years, I was used to these tantrums of this rich and bureaucratic class yet today I didn't to take it.
A wide smile spread across my lips seeing Kunal's name flash on my mobile screen. "So did you stand for the jio anthem?" I joked.
"Somebody is following me dedicatedly. Han?" He chuckled as I got up to get out of the hall.
"Ugh." I giggled. "Why? I heard someone say Kunal would like it."
"I need to reconsider my friends." He spoke and I laughed, bumping into a figure. I put my hair back, siding a bit but bumped into him again and then again.
"Decide what you want to do first." I heard him thunder before I could even look up at his face.
He stared into my eyes coldly as if I was nonsense, nothing or maybe as if he was disappointed in me or say angry. I hated that. I hated it because I felt he did that deliberately, to make me feel a certain way, to give himself a upper hand over me.
I ignored him, walking out with my shoulder brushing against his. It was him who was late, him who had wasted my time yet he had the audacity to question so boldly.
"So when you coming back to Delhi?" Kunal asked. We were talking first time after the dinner that went a little out of its way.
"Next week." I answered. "Hey, you'd mind if I call you after a while? I have something to attend."
"Yes, behenchod sab Modi nahi hain jo Bear Grylls ke sath jungle ghume." He jested and I shook my head, giggling. "Shut up, bye."
I went inside without a permission and sat on the chair beside Arsalan as it was the only one left.
"Let me make it clear, I have a lot work besides waiting for you to get ready. So don't dare check my patience especially when the discussion has none of my interests." I knew his eyes pretented as if it was a general rebuke because there was another person who entered with me but I knew amidst everyone I was the one he was truly watching.
I had no arguments to present, he could rot. I was just glad that only a little of the work was left.
