41| So Unexpected.

I sat across her on the bed, the morbid atmosphere of the room only making me breathless and giddy. I couldn't even look at her face properly, it scared me, the lust and shine replaced by paleness and weakness terrified me.

"How you?" Her voice was tender, as if she really had to make efforts to speak.

"Okay." I nodded, looking down at the mattress and tears began to fall from my eyes. I did not know exactly why, but I was full of remorse and guilt, her condition killed me. "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry." I mumbled, unaware of what exactly my mistake was in bringing her into this but I felt sorry.

She appeared to be so lifeless that I could not help but conclude it must be some curse that had escaped my mouth and did this to her. I never wanted this to happen to her, I swear I did not.

"Ssh. No." She took my hand in hers and squeezed it to calm me down. I worried what if it hurts her. "Don't say sorry."

"I probably know how it feels." She took a deep breath. "I felt this when I heard about your rape, I felt I was so sinful. I know. Such a bitch." Her words touched my mind. She read me so right.

"It feels like Karma right? You feel it is all happening because it is what your Karma looks like?" She asked me and more tears trickled down my eyes. Were our tragedies so same? I didn't know.

"I just realised it was not my fault as much this is not yours. So don't cry." She pressed my hand again. I had not heard anybody understand what I felt when I was raped the way she defined it in a second. I was taken aback. It was what that ran in my mind ruthlessly.

"I'm so proud of you, so proud that you fought back." She told me with a little smile.

"How did this happen?" I questioned her. I knew life threatening diseases did not come with a warning tag but yet I wanted to know, I was inquisitive.

"I was three months pregnant when the doctor said I had crossed the save stage. I was in pain before, but I thought it was all random ailments or just my breast changing due to pregnancy. It came out to be cancer." I could not  comprehend why she was smiling so much. A smile that was incredibly sad.

"I know Mr. Kale. He is in America but a phenomenal oncologist. We can visit him if there are no issues." I suggested after collecting myself.

"Last stage. No hopes." She replied and I was shut up. I did not know what else to say.

"Did you meet Aadya?" She enquired.

"She is a darling, so cute and dramatic."

She laughed at my comment but it turned into a series of cough. I was about to run to her back but Arsalan came in at the moment.

"Madhia." He sat beside her and rubbed her back, touching her cheeks with the other hand. "Better?" He asked after she relaxed and she nodded.

"I might get late, by eleven, I guess. Cool with you?" He took her permission.

She murmured a yes and Arsalan kissed her forehead. "Just call me." He told her and got up.
